I'm 18 and I'm looking to get my first handgun. I want a double stack 9mm and was convinced for a while that I should get a Glock 19. However I've recently been looking at the FNS-9 and I think it might be a better option. I won't be able to carry until I'm 21 so the DNS might be a better gun to practice with for now.

*FNS, posting from mobile sorry

>Why shouldn't I get an FNS-9?
Because it's not an FNX-9
>>
You should, they're great guns. The FNX that >>31980375 mentioned is also a good choice if you'd like something DA/SA. I've put a couple of thousand rounds through my FNS-40, and have never had any problems.
>>
>>31979457
because you're 18

get the fnx though, don't be gay
>>
>>31980835
I can get it as a gift or in a private sale. Why is the FNX better though?
>>
Just buy whatever the fuck. It wont be your last. Welcome to the addiction.

Because FN will be anouncing their new and much improved pistol lineup that I helped develop at SHOT Show in January.

It's not. FNX is for pussies who need a hammer and a thumb safety because they're not competent to know what condition their gun's in and can't keep their finger off the trigger. FNS is the only correct option between the two. Cheaper, too

I have one, it's been great. No issues.

Let me know when those $20 mags show up, decent sights are available and the XC1 fits the compact.

Never mind waiting on a traditional 5.7
>>
>>31979457
Pros: it's ambidextrous, if you're a lefty
Cons: fucking plastic tabs on the sides of the slide lock are annoying. They could be sanded down though.
>>
>>31981235
FNS trigger is an inferior piece of shit but thanks for trying anyways.
>>
>>31979457
SP2022 is better.
>>
>>31979457
You need to shoot more guns before making a decision.
Dont limit your choices
>>
>>31982071
Plus, it's #NotAGlock
>>
>>31979457
I don't see you going wrong with either one, but the FNS-9 has better aesthetic and ambidextrous friendly.

I do wish FN would make an all metal pistol, seeing how large the gaps between the slide and frame just rubs me wrong.

FNS trigger = PPQ = Ruger SR series >>>Glock >>M&P

I carry an FNS-9 in an Alien Gear holster. It carries very well. I really like the FNS, good sights, fairly cheap, 17+1 capacity, comes with 3 mags. Over 1000 rounds and no failures. Ended up buying the special edition FNS-9 in FDE and an FNS-9L.

I bought an FNS-9C as my first centerfire handgun a year ago and have not regretted it.I went with the compact because it's easier for me to conceal either the 12rd flat base magazines. And there's always the option of the 17rd with included grip extender.

I have about 2k rounds through it, a handful of times the slide failed to lock back on an empty mag. Something attributed this to the recoil spring being VERY stiff and ONLY when using low powered 115gr ammo. Haven't happened in months and never happened shooting NATO 124gr. Also, the slide release is very stiff and it's small, size issue may by compact only. Not really an issue, I'd want a smaller release on a carry gun anyway. I really like the checkering of the polymer, it bites into my hand nicely. Overall I like it a lot and it does everything I want an all-rounder handgun to do.
