I am, but my grandfather wasn't. It was a long legal battle due to that, me being under age, and family contesting the will.

My dad had one in .308 years ago. It didn't like to cycle more than a few rounds with out feeding issues. I don't remember that well exactly now if it was an extraction issue or wanting to double feed. He didn't keep it very long.

Leaf here, you don't need to license anymore just need a PAL for ammunition, best way to test is tie the fucker to a tree tie and string to the trigger and let her rip. I'd get all the Canadian legality things sorted out, take it into a gunstore/gunsmith near you and have them check it out for saftey.

If it works (99% chance it will), pick up some ammo for it and bring her out to shoot.

Yupp, people call em jam o matics, but they have to be cleaned and oiled just right...and they'll go 100s of rounds without a single jam, even on cheap FMJ. Just make sure your mag is good, action spring, and that you oil it super lightly, but thoroughly.

Design is prone to being very dirty, so it causes issues. But people do tacticool them up. Any 870 stock will work on one just fine, so that leaves you all kinds of options
