Alright, /k/, I have a question. I am writing a novel and I would like advice on a realistic equipment list a cop would have.
Assume the following.
>Year is 2016
>Cop is a Sheriff's deputy in Wyoming (in a fictional county)
>Small population in county, low budget, but cop has moderate money to spend on personally owned equipment.
>Service pistol must be double-action/single-action pistol (not a glock)
>Cop likes fancy or badass-looking guns but will yield to practical concerns
Now make your recommendations.
>>31974964
Glock 22
>>31974964
Ruger mark II
S&W Model 10
>>31974972
>>31974974.
>>31974977
Real helpful, guys.
>>31974964
Make your bad guy use a Walther p-38 and wear either a red, blue, or green jacket.
FN FNP 45
TLR-1 mounted flashlight
X-26 taser
>>31974964
>>Service pistol must be double-action/single-action pistol (not a glock)
HK USP
>>31974998
Sig 227R
Pennsylvania state police adopted it so their troopers would stop accidentally shooting their wives in the head while cleaning their Glocks.
>>31974989
My nigger.
>>31974998
>>31975006
>>31975007
Now this is more helpful.
What about body armour and baton recommendations?
>>31974964
Sig P226 or P229
>>31975019
ASP p16 baton
KDH defense armor
>>31974964
>service pistol must be da/sa pistol
>not a glock
like we had a choice OP
>>31975077
A lot of police forces in America allow cops to pick what gun they want, and from what I gather the smaller the department the less restrictive the requirements. Hell, in some of those one-cop counties you might get away with toting a .44 magnum, until some dick with a camera phone posts "Dirty Harry wannabe cop shoots unarmed melanin enriched gentleman who totally wasn't robbing that store with the gun he totally didn't have"
>>31975077
Oh... now I realise what you meant. Glocks don't come in da/sa. I feel like an idiot.
In my defence I live in one of those less free countries and don't have a lot of guns available for personal research, which is why I'm asking here.
>>31974964
Sig P220 in 10 milimeme. Sigs are, as I recall, kind of expensive, but not retardedly so, and are good enough to be service or duty pistols in other places, they look fucking good, and making it 10mm just makes it weird and interesting enough to be cool, because only /k/ommandos and Fallout fans even really seem to know it even exists.
>>31975119
Protagonist I had in mind would probably own a 10mm Sig for a collectors item, but would definitely prefer higher than 7-8 round capacity of a p220 for an on-duty weapon.
Out of the Sigs, would /k/ recommend a p226, p227, p228, or p229.... is there any real difference from a practical standpoint or is it really just a matter of preference?
>>31975137
>HK USP
go with th HK USP. it has enough of an aura to me a character interesting, and in 45 it can also become interesting to the fudds.
>>31975118
haha no worries anon. what country are you from? assuming Germany?
>>31974998
I second this post BTW.
>>31974964
Smith and Wesson 5906
>>31975160
New Zealand.
I *can* get a firearms license, but I'd need to join a gun club and be a regular participant, and I'd have to lie on the application and say I want the gun for target shooting, not for defending my property against a potential invader, and I'd need to get permission from all my family that they're willing to allow a gun in the house (they wouldn't) and I'd need to spend several hundred dollars on top of the cost of the license and the gun to buy a gun safe.
Also, we've narrowed gun down to either a HK USP or a FNP 45.
What about a backup pistol / knife (hide in the boot emergency weapon sort of thing?)
>>31975183
Seconded
>>31975184
>What about a backup pistol
USP COMPACT

or you could go with the P30 and P30SK (SubKompact)

Here OP, how bout a S&W 915?
15 rounds+1, DA/SA
Nobody will know it's from the 80's
>>31975240
>>31975183
everybody knows its from the 80s.
>>31975240
>>31974964
Sorry, I didn't read thread enough. Went to find pic but then thread updated. Here, have some oc pupper
>>31974964
Sig 226 .40 cal. Every department here in SW Michigan carries it.
X26 taser.
>>31975267
Now that I've looked at it the 226 Equinox is an awesome-looking gun I'll consider.
x26 taser is pretty much expected.
Does this thread have an opinion on ASP vs monadnock batons?
Does a p230/p232 sound like a decent backup/hidden gun?
>>31975097
>tfw I am qualified with a half dozen handguns and can carry any of them
>tfw 2 of those guns are a GP100 and a FiveseveN.
What a time to be alive.
>>31974964
What a coincidence, I am a deputy in a smaller county with lax equipment restrictions.
>gun (that isn't a Glock)
FNP-9 is what I carry. It is relatively inexpensive and very reliable, the ergonomics are good and the capacity is 16+1. I have gotten a couple converts to the FNP side. If you want a little flashier, I personally want to go to the FNX-45 Tactical with tritium sights, but don't feel like spending the money.
>body armor
Armor and tactical uniform shit is mostly Propper, I have one of those new Propper 4PVs, a lot more breathable and while still hot as fuck, I feel less like I'm cooking inside it.
>baton
An ASP. I'm a pretty big guy (4U) and carry the ASP 26". This will vary depending on the size of your character, a smaller guy should carry a smaller baton, like the 21" or 16".
>taser
The X26 is still basically the go to taser unless you feel like spending 2 grand in something that is only marginally better at most. That being said, we do have some special snowflakes that prefer JPX OC guns, so that is always an option for you.
>OC
It's Sabre Red I think. Mean shit, it's like a gel/foam that you can't wipe off. Real mean shit, I hate it. Hurts like a motherfucker.
>cuffs
S&W always, peerless is dogshit, 2 sets
>patrol rifle
An AR pattern, mine is an FN-15. M&P-15, Ruger AR-556, they're all fine.
>patrol shotgun
All that guys that have them are either Remingtons 870s or Mossbergs 500s
>misc
IFAK under the seat and a plate carrier in the trunk.
Hope this helps, I'd love to answer any other questions.
>>31975019
You're really going to name drop the model/brand of the body armor and baton in this "novel" you're writing? That's like unbelievable levels of autism. I can't imagine what a slow drag that shit will be.
>>31975212
lol I came here to post this
fucking amazing show btw
>pic related, based Walt and Henry
>>31975029
>Sig
I guess if the officer wants to die after it jams from the dust in the air
>>31974964
You started your post with the answer OP, don't do that.
>>31975546
>Being this stupid
>>31975137
Having a character so autistic about guns is going to distract from the things a western narrative has to offer, from biblical and rollicking blocks of prose to imagery of vast vistas and awful things therein.
>>31974964
Beretta PX-4 or 92
Lionheart LH9
FNX series
Any HK
Sig
CZ 75
Sphinx CZ clones
Old S&W 4 digits
That's the DA/SA pistols I can think of, some are fancier than others. Out of all of those, HK, Sig, and Sphinx are the most expensive, pretty badass looking. The Lionheart LH9 is uncommon enough to be neat.
>>31975097
I lived in Cheyenne, WY for a little and one time saw a cop carrying a Para P14. They're definitely lax with what they allow.

Are you upset because you purchased an $800+ paper weight or is it because a cheap slav copy outperforms the real thing?
>>31974964
Glock 17
>>31974964
Walther P99
