What happens if I shoot a .309 bullet down a .311 barrel?
What happens if I shoot a .311 bullet down a .308 barrel?

>Big fireball and almost no muzzle pressure or velocity
>A squib or a worn to shit barrel
>>31969925
works fine
people shoot 308s in 311s all the time with pretty good accuracy
probably have pressure issues
Depends on your loads. If you're using mild loads for both, you should be fine. Unless it's the steel-core shit... It's not optimal, but lead and copper is soft, and deforms much more than .001 in regular firing. Just watch the pressure.
>>31969938
>squib
Shit, I'm scared of that shit especially since I haven't worked out my slamfire out of my sks. That's .311 though I guess.

So if I have a .311 mold, can I buy a .309 bullet resizer and run it through that?
I wanna shoot 100 grain bullets in both my 30-30 and sks, maybe even my .30-06. All with really fast burning powder.
>>31969925
nothing
nothing
Couple extra thousandths does not actually matter unless you are going for accuracy or running at max pressures.

>>31969975
Ok so just go mild loads until I understand how pressure works then?
>>31969975
Won't the deformation be uneven and cause the bullet to basically shred itself before even leaving the barrel?

>I wanna shoot 100 grain bullets in both my 30-30 and sks, maybe even my .30-06. All with really fast burning powder.
Please tell me exactly what you're hoping to achieve here.

Gotta go fast.
With the 30-30 and the .30-06 it's just for shits and giggles but I'm actually trying to get a flatter shooting 7.62x39 round.

>Gotta go fast.
Have fun shooting bullet fragments down range. Try looking up the velocity limits for lead bullets. Also, paper patching isn't an option for semi auto rifles so the limit for your 7.62x39mm loads will be even lower.

I didn't mention this, but I powder coat all of my cast bullets. Does fragmentation come about from temperature from friction or is just the bullet going against air and coming apart?
I know my powder coated bullets are harder then even most hard lead alloys. I can't scratch it with my finger nail and brass has a tough time scratching it.
I wish there were more .311 jacketed bullet in lighter weights than 120~.

>powder coat
so you're telling us that you actually have no idea what diameter your bullets are
>>31970704
When I resize them I do.
>>31970742
tell me about the resizing method you utilize. does it subject the bullets to less force than when they accelerate to super fast speeds? i sure hope so
