there are multiple ways to find out and more ways to prevent it.
what immdeately comes to mind, try to scratch some part of your barrel with that soft ass hanger, it will probably make a shiny little mark that will rub off. no harm done. regardless, buy some Sugru* or even just some plastic tape and wrap the bit that goes in the barrel.

this is not an EDC holster, this is an expedient, I-have-no-idea-how-im-gonna-carry-today, once in a blue moon solution
