I carry a FNS9C (9mm compact)

Magazine capacity laws are more frustrating that AWB. Its literally and asinine fucking law. I also carry a spare magazine. I live in CT for anyone wondering.

Okay, so I'm probably still going to end up buying a 9mm because they're cheap and the ammo is cheap too. But... what's with all this 10mm talk I see on here? Is it really a good round? I've shot a 9mm Beretta 92 and a 45 1911, as well as a 44 magnum.. where does it fall recoil wise?

My carry is a 9+1 with standard magazines but really that's plenty. If you're worried about volume then carry spare magazines.

It's a good round but kind of overkill for SD, people like to hunt with it. It has the recoil of a .357 or a hot .45

Personally, I prefer a handgun with a bigger, more powerful round for this reason. Capacity arguments are irrelevant when you only have 10 shots either way, so it makes sense to go with superior knockdown power, IMO.
I like 1911's, but I'm also a fanboy. Any .45 will do.
Currently saving for a gen 2 vector as a home defense/range toy gun.

Get what you like, it honestly is your choice. I had a 226, g19, 1911, xdm, ppks, saa. That i open carried when i lived in CA. It all depends what gun you like.

If you do get a glock, get a gen 4. This way if you end up hating it you can sell it for 1200$ used

I'm in the same situation as OP, although I won't be moving for at least 8 more months.

I'm tempted to buy and stash a lot of "high capacity" pistols in my house, but my main defense gun is going to be a 10mm Glock 20 gen 4.

Can you or anyone you know recall a situation in which you would have been caught if your magazine was over the legal capacity limit?

The answer is no. They'll never check and in the event that you have to use it in self defense you'll have plenty of time to get rid of the magazine before they arrive.

Don't do it though, because that would be illegal.
