Mind if I ask if there's a noticeable difference between .22 and .380 recoil wise or are they both about the same?

My biggest concerns would be regarding reliability, all rugers i've seen, although shot to all hell, tend to jam a lot, which doesn't matter at the range of course

If you are no guns and looking to get a cc and shoot with it, get a glock 19 or similar compact gun

In MA maybe a compact 1911 or something, cold winters let you carry bigger guns easier

get the Ruger to practice shooting and then get a cc gun and train with it, you will probably shoot better with the ruger because its hard with smaller guns

i reccomend the sig p238 HD if you want a .380 that is small and still has enough weight to be fun to shoot

You have problems shooting straight, here's a correction chart. Print it and shoot at it, figure out what you're doing wrong and work on it.

.32ACP isn't all that popular these days, but Lehigh makes some loadings with a bullet made out of machined copper, which aids quite well in penetration, so if you have a .32 pistol there's options.

The Beretta 1935 was also available in .380ACP. Lehigh makes a copper fuck you bullet for this caliber too and the performance is actually pretty impressive for the caliber.

Carrying a .22 is ridiculous, you can argue all about "muh stopping powah" with 9mm and .45, but .22 really doesn't hit hard enough to stop someone dead in his tracks that tries to do you harm. If you can't hold your gun steady for shit, train more and do as the Chinese do: hang a weight on the front of your gun and hold it up in place. The added weight trains your muscles to fatigue slower. You'll be able to hold your aim steady for longer.
