Colt. You're never going to find anyone making the original style grip safety though.
>>31964427

A series 70 colt
>>31964435
A good pistol, but the French put too many stupid stipulations in the design contract
>magazine disconnect making it impossible to reload without temporarily disarming yourself
>weaksauce 9mm cartidge
>>31964432
>>31964462
Those are WW2 style 1911s. The army monkeyed around with the design during the interwar period.
>>31964473
Didn't springfield or someone make a run of those a few years back?
not sure how faithful they were but If I recall they looked pretty nice.
think I have a gun rag with a cover about them or something
>>31964546
They weren't very faithful to the JMB design. They were more like the WW2 model.
>>31964427
http://www.cylinder-slide.com/reproduction4.shtml
>>31964609
in it's original form it was quite the looker.
>>31964704
but you can't hate an A1.
>>31964427
Colt made some vanilla 1911s for the Centennial. They're around, but they don't often come up for sale.
Cimarron makes one that's close, but with an A1 style trigger and grip safety and its parkerized instead of blued. So it kind of looks like a rearsenaled 1911.
Beyond that you're looking at originals or boutique semi-customs.
USFA used to make some really nice 1911's, even some 1910-types with no grip safety.
Buuut then they dumped it all to make the fucking ZiPgun
>>31965748
>Buuut then they dumped it all to make the fucking ZiPgun
That is an absolute shame. Didn't they also make some nice 1873's?
Tacticool was a mistake.
>>31964609
>idiot scratch.
>>31965728
Cimarron makes a high polish blue version of it that's really pretty.
>>31965985
Yeah, if I remember right they were almost Turnbull-tier
A hi power.
>pic related
far left is the 1911 JMB build. Colt took over from there.
>>31966262
>A hi power.
pfffffft
>far left is the 1911 JMB build. Colt took over from there.
HAHAHAHA
lol nice post, nigger
>>31966003
What's an idiot scratch?
>>31966515
It's that curved scratch just below the slide stop.
And it is caused by people incorrectly reassembling a 1911, and scratching the frame with the slide stop when inserting it back into the gun.
>>31966534
>incorrectly
You have to go out of your way to avoid the scratch, so I wouldn't call it incorrect. Careless, maybe.
>>31966902
No you just have to do it right to avoid it. Just like how garand thumb comes from loading garands incorrectly
>>31964427
Cimarron is the closest you're going to find.
>>31967066
JMB didn't initially have a grip safety and had a commander styled hammer
>>31967078
No shit, but no one makes that version because that wasn't the final approved version.
>>31967093
Well shit nigga OP asked for closest design
Not the approved
>>31967142
He posted a pic of the pre-A1, it's a reasonable assumption.
>>31967078
>>31967142
OP also asked for a 1911, not a 1905.
>>31964427
updates to the 1911 came slow and over more than a century of tweaking. Better sights, better grip safety, etc... Why you wouldn't want the benefit of that?
>>31964427
I have been considering the Colt model 01991, there are minor details I believe that they changed, but it's some purpose is to replicate pre A1 1911s.
>>31964463
>weaksauce 9mm
McFucking kill yourself, you underage fudd.
>>31968127
>no lanyard loop
>finger cutout on the trigger guard
Nah, not the same.
>>31968140
Your suggestion? I'm basically in the same boat as OP as far as having trouble finding an exact match. Also I still feel as if I can sacrifice a few minor details to have that bitch still stamped with colt.
>>31968139
9mm is shit
kys faggot
>>31968244
I respect your opinion, but I do see too many cosmetic differences.
>>31968221
Cimarron is your best bet. Otherwise you need to cruise online auctions looking for a pre-A1 and get ready to shell out the bucks for it.
Other alternatives are the Colt WWI commemorative ones, which are the right design, or the Victory Anniversary one. Both of those options are also expensive on auction sites.
>>31968275
Maybe, but it's literally the closest you're going to get without having one custom built from the ground up.
>>31968287
One of the WWI ones.
>>31968296
And here are some auctions you could get all up in.

there are two basic models for an "orignal". The very orignal from 1911, which is more of s custom job now, or a WW2 GI 1911a1 model which almost everyone makes a base model. Colt, Springfield, RIA, Remington, ect
you'll have an easier time fidning an A1 model, a true original 1911 is a custom job most of the time
Colt, obviosuly, makes repos of their original 1911's but they will run you a thousand dollars or so at least
is my dream to get one but I really dont want to spend that on one pistol. Id rather just customize a regular 1911 and play pretend
>>31966902
just push the slide stop in instead of rotating it around like a retard
>>31968509
>customize a regular 1911
How do you intend to fill in the finger cutouts on the frame?
>>31964427
Cimmeran makes guns that have ww1 style backstraps. Don't know what else though.
>>31968579
I dont. at best id get some diamond grupsand maybe polish it a bit, give a long trigger and flat main spring housing. Again, id rather play pretend with a Frankenstein RIA or Springfield then shill out 1000 dollars
plus im with hickock, I get hammer bite on the original 1911 models
Now here's a dumb question: does anyone make, or is it possible to have custom-built, a 1911 with a grip safety but no external manual safety?
>>31968625
Why would you want too?
>>31968561
If you just push it in you run the risk of scratching the slide, which is even worse than the idiot mark.
>>31970650
>>31968561
Jesus Christ. Use a playing card.
>>31970727
...
my whole life has been a lie
>>31970727
Thats a great idea...
>>31966262
>far left is the 1911 JMB build. Colt took over from there.
No, that is not accurate.
>>31970727
>needing a playing card
>>31964432
Except kimber, you fuck.
>>31972697
explain?
Norinco

This is the closest to a real 1911 thread I saw. How are S&W 1911s? How do they compare to a springfield in a similar price range? Gonna try to sell my LWCO today and either get a full size colt, S&W, or another springfield.
>>31970727
>playing card
No card needed, just do it right.
>>31975089
Why do people use these bulky padded cases? It's a pistol not a camera.
>>31968236
>muh stopping power!!!1
>>31975107
Idk. It's what it came with when I bought it. Its nice when you have a ton of mags and accessories, though. The most confusing part is the picatinny rails on the sides.
>>31975107
pelican cases can be sex you know?
>>31968139
He's right you know. 9mil is weak. You're using the "fudd" word incorrectly as well. I guess you're eurotrash no guns.

I'm in Lincoln. Grew up in Norfolk. So they've never been too far away.
