First AR 15, just took it to the range to enjoy for the first time. I noticed these scratch marks afterwards. Seems the rounds being expelled caused this, no?
If so, what do I do to fix this? If not, then idk wtf happened.

Thats supposed to happen.
Your brass deflector is deflecting brass. You can probably wipe that off if you want.
>>31962773
Unless you scratched the deflector on something, i would say those scratches are from the ejected brass. I've never seen ejected brass leave scratches like that though.
If you bothers you, or if its damaging brass you plan on reloading, you can place some sticker velcro on there. The brass will hit the velcro and not dent the case mouth, or your deflector.

yes, the brass is deflected off of the protrusion, hence the name "brass deflector". (im not being condescending, i understand everyone has to start somewhere)
>>31962773
That's supposed to happen to a degree but it looks like your upper/the finish is really fucking soft.
Also I'm pretty sure an overgassed AR hits the deflector harder and can do that.

Thanks, couldn't have been a better answer.
Still a newfag and don't know all the jargon and I built AR with no help. So no mentor.

Just figured i would post this for reference, but this is my upper after 40 rounds of over gassed ejections. The case mouths were extremely dented from hitting the upper.
How Good Do I need To be to Clear out this many people?

as long as you are not getting extraction issues i would not worry about it.However it should not be deflecting that much. Might have to do with the tension on the extractor or maybe a gas issue.
Once again, if it's just scratching don't pay it any mind. It's a tool.
>>31962773
That's supposed to get worn, but not like that.
What kind of ammo are you using?
What kind of AR is that?
If a build what cheap shit company's upper did you buy?
>>31962844

If it bothers you just stick some electrical tape to it or something mang
>>31962941
What he said.
getting marks like that is proof your AR has lost its virginity
>>31964555
Is that a good Thing?
>>31962773
Damn, son. You really that bent out of shape about your shell deflector getting scufffed from doing its job?
It is a weapon meant for use and abuse, not a museum piece.
>>31962773
No rifle will extract exactly the same. Unless you want to tear into your upper and replace shit to get a little different ejection angle. I say leave it alone. Its normal wear and it's a badge of honor. Shows its used, and works. Its not a safe queen op.
How do I know if a gun is registered?
