I don't even know if there's enough NFA on /k/ to warrant a thread, but post them while Tax Stamps still matter.

I got my 9mm can on election night, of all nights.

Still waiting on the Form 4 on this can; the Form 1 came in a while back on the 300 blk build.
>>
Had dreams of owning multiple NFA goodies. Set up a trust, put the family on it so we could share things. Made an SBR PS90. Got a can for use on the various .45 ACP and .40 S&W pistols. Then the trust rules changed. Now I'd have to drag the entire family to get fingerprints and I have neither the time nor money for that.

Also, since I think long term, I put my then 15 year old niece and my 1 year old great-nephew on the trust. Really? I have to get a 1 year old fingerprinted? Not worth the effort at this point.
>>
>>31962185

I submitted almost a dozen stamps before the laws changed.

You can use the silencershop kiosks to get everyone photo'd and printed pretty painlessly. Getting everyone to actually do it is the clincher.

I did the same as you and have close to 20 trustees as well, so it's an almost useless trust too.
>>
>>31962219
That's the issue. Also, getting a 1 year old fingerprinted cannot be fun. I also don't see my nephew's wife agreeing to it. She like the hunting rifles, being a Fudd and all, but she isn't a fan of all the NFA things.

I should've submitted a bunch of stamps before the law changed.

How do SBR laws work in America with an AR lower?

Do you just register the lower and then you can put any SBR upper on it?
Or do you have to keep that lower on that upper and register another lower for another upper?
Or are the uppers registered?
>>
>>31970316
I think SBRs will be the first to go, since they're the easiest to argue for.

>putting a stock on a handgun for handgun hunters is illegal
>majority of actual SBR/SMG weapons are only concealable if you happen to be Secret Service.
>>
>>31970352
Any upper you want. But you must keep the upper configuration you registered the lower with so you can "return" it to the configuration you registered.
>>
>>31970352
uppers are always parts. the lower is the gun.

you register for a stamp with a specific lower, caliber, barrel length and over all length. as long as you have the original configuration (as per your stamp) on hand you can swap out lengths, calibers...what ever as long it is on the same lower that has the stamp.

build a 10.5 556? cool, swap it out for 9mm, 300blk what ever the fuck you want as long as you own all the parts to return it to what the stamp says it is.

>>
Does an Osprey allow you to use most standard pistol sights, or is it best to just get a factory handgun meant to be suppressed anyway so you'll have threads and raised sights?
>>
>>31962078

>not having a trust with just you on it

Why? Just kidding, I know why, but you know they made it this way to discourage y'all. Glad I got my immediate NFA needs in before July. Got my suppressor and SBR stamps back a couple months ago and "built" my truck gun, a suppressed 300 BLK AR.
>>
>>31973638

Depends on the pistol.

It still blocks a Glock.
>>
>>31973638

The Osprey allows you to use factory sights, so you can just et a threaded barrel for whatever gun. IF you want to get any suppressor that doesn't have a low-profile like the Osprey, then you gotta get he raised sights and whatnot or get better with your instinct shooting.

>>
>>31973692
HPA has a provision to refund tax stamps issued after it was introduced.

That said, I kind of wish HPA dies now, so we can introduce "The Gun Control and Universal Background Check Act of Current Year" which does the following:

The NICS and Stolen Firearms Databases shall be opened to the public. The ATF shall provide a website and hotline to provide a buyer background check and stolen firearm check for no more than the cost to maintain the system. It shall be a felony to sell a firearm to anyone who is prohibited from purchasing a firearm, but the seller is absolved of any responsibility if they ran a NICS check which came back clear. It shall be a felony to possess a stolen firearm, but the owner shall be absolved of any responsibility if the owner ran a stolen firearms check which came back clear. All states shall be mandated to report qualifying reasons for prohibition to the NICS administration. It shall further be a felony offense to run a background check on an individual without their consent.

The price of a non-machine gun tax stamp is raised to $500.
The price of a machine gun tax stamp is raised to $5000.

Small print:
The definition of "antique" for firearms shall be defined as "older than 100 years", rolling.

The barrel length for a short barreled rifle/shotgun shall be defined as 12/14 inches.

The number of shots fired to qualify as a machine gun shall be more than three instead of one to protect owners of semi-autos from accidentally committing a felony in the event of a malfunction known as "doubling".
The registry for machine guns is reopened.
Suppressors are no longer controlled by federal law.
922(r) is hereby repealed.
The ATF discretion for importation of a firearm/ammunition are amended to permit any firearm/ammunition which is legal to possess in the US.
All restrictions on the sale of weapons from an FFL to an individual over state lines are lifted, provided they comply with the laws of both states.

My Osprey is just about level with the sights on my M&P. I like my Osprey, but there are so many good cans out there that needing taller sights isn't something that should make or break your decision on a particular one.
>>
>>31973884
Three round burst is infinitely more useful and what I'm proposing would make it a standard AR feature, and you want the antis to look at the one or two things they like a lot, and immediately vote yes without reading the rest of the thing.

I mean, this basically opens the door on M16A2/4 and M4's via CMP.

Plus, even with a 5k Form 4, itll still be cheaper to buy a full auto AR than it is now.
>>
>>31973849
This is ABSOLUTELY fucking stupid. States can still ban NFA items individually as states, so all this bullshit would do is raise the price of tax stamps.
>>
>>31973927
The one reason I'd consider the Osprey is because I have four different pistols I could use it on. Not needing to replace the sights on a host of guns would be nice.

>>
>>31973948
States banning NFA shit is nothing new, and attempting to change that via federal regulation will get every dem filibustering as hard as they can, and then they'll push to repeal it if you even manage it through every single session until they get a democrat president, just like the Republicans want to do with ACA.

Leave that for SCOTUS. It will likely be 6:3 within 4 years, and they can extend McDonald to cover the "items most at the core of the second amendment" aka NFA arms in a way that dems cannot easily change for a hundred years.

That's a decent reason. If it were just one or two guns or you were planning on buying something to be a dedicated/main host that may come with suppressor sights or get an optic then it's probably not worth concentrating on.

There are two downsides to the Osprey, in my experience.

One is that it's not user serviceable. I really don't think it's a big deal for centerfire caliber cans. If I were buying anything else I'd make sure it was user serviceable, but it wasn't a deal breaker for the Osprey.

The other is that the mechanism for adjusting the orientation isn't super strong. If you crank it on tight and forget to take it off while it's still hot, you'll probably fuck up the latch.

Not on most pistols. The large majority of pistols will still require tall sights as with any other suppressor. A very small number of pistols have medium-height sights from the factory and will barely clear an Osprey, but tall sights would still be preferred.

>The Osprey allows you to use factory sights
So does any other suppressor. You still can't see the sights overtop of an Osprey on most handguns.

Keep in mind you guys that you can still shoot any pistol without having the iron sights visible over the circumference of the suppressor, like M&Panon says. You just shoot with both eyes open as normal. It takes a little getting used to, but it works in the same way as the old Single Point sights.

The Osprey looks neat but that's about all it's good for.

I just picked up a SLR 104ur last week. I'm filling out my form 1 right now. Is it true page 1 and 2 need to be double sided on one sheet or the ATF will reject it? And what's the average wait time for a SBR?

Nine months is a pretty good estimate.
And double side your shit.
