The impression is generally get from him and guys like him is that they give you an amalgamation of what they and guys they knew experienced. Alot of the 'killed fiddy men' guys really have seen some action, they just also tell stories they heard from other guys from the first person perspective.

Also the tactical stuff he talks about is generally correct. Ie:

Are both legitimate points in the context of infantry engagements. They are absolutely terrible advice in a civilian setting but if your objective is 'disposal of enemy personnel' then he is spot on. Saturating an area with rifle fire, firing from a position of concealment (interior walls are concealment, not cover), those really are the way you do it.

If I was someone who was untrained and wanted a no faggot bullshit course on how to fight in close quarters he seems like he would be a good instructor.

You must be fucking joking. I mean I know infantry psychologically faces the issue of shooting at people and thus rarely directly aims at a person (that's what snipers are for, who have much more psychological pressure on them to deal with). And yeah, by establishing fire superiority and forcing the enemy into cover, thus not being able to shoot back you win engagements most of the time. But to teach people that jungle shit as self defense in the city? Firing through walls, possibly killing your family or neighbors behind them?
