Because american firearm manufacturers have too many politicians in their pockets that will block any attempt to override the import ban. Look how many US companies started making aks after saiga was banned and other combloc imports started "drying up". Its all politics to keep surplus out of the US and money in the pockets of greedy politicians and state side gun companies.
