It depends on your age.
If it's a kid, get them some shitty .22 plinking rifle.
If it's a teen, get them a shotgun in 12 or 20 gauge.
If it's a young adult, an AR or a pistol would work.

Sig P226
First ever? Marlin model 60
First I bought? S&W model 10 police trade in.

What pistol
>>31942244
First gun I shot was a single shot .22
First gun I owned was a hunting rifle in .270 win (I inherited it from my father when he died)
First gun I bought was a mosin nagant
>First Gun
M1 Garand
>Recommended first gun?
Yes and no. It was always my favorite, so I was always going to get one before anything else, but it's not the friendliest gun to learn to shoot on I suppose.

>baby is buying a gun for an adult.
I'd recommend something compact, rather thn fullsize or subcompact. 9mm because high capacity and muh shot placement. Polymer for weight. Something with a safety.
Police Positive in .32. Got it and an old S&W 5 screw when I was 12.

a sears pump-action .22 pellet gun
I would recommend a high-point model 995 carbine rifle.
>>31942244
.22/410 gauge, but the first gun I ever bought myself was an 870 express
and I recommend good hunting gun
off-name brand 1911

I've never actually owned a gun. First thing that was close to ownership is the M16A4 I had in bootcamp
Hey kommandos. Noguns here but want to soon be hasguns. I don't browse this board at all, this board seemed like a good place to ask.
What would you think is a good firearm choice for me? A lot of racial violence and issues in my area and I just want it for home security. Not a carry weapon but I'd prefer a handgun vs a shotgun or rifle.
Some reliable, solid suggestions would be appreciated and preferably not a memegun. I'm not looking to throw a gigantic amount of money into this just something reliable and solid

Mosin Nagant

My grandfather's old 30-06 pump action, pic related
>Would I recommend?
Yes. It was a fun first gun to shoot. Loud as fuck and lots of recoil.

Colt 1903
Whatever catches your fancy. People will say "you want this, or that" based on a bunch of criteria, but in the end if you buy something you're not excited about, you're not really going to love it. If you're excited about something reliable, perfectly suited to your purpose, affordable, easy to use, etc, great. If you're excited about something oddball, great. If you're excited about a .22 you can plink with all day, great. Buy what you feel is right for you and tickles your pickle.
>First gun
Maverick 88
>What gun would you recommend
Maverick 88
My first personal purchase was a FNH FNX 40 (I KNOW, 40 KEKS etc.). I bought it when the FNX platform was new. And I have since bought a can and conversion barrel to shoot 357sig.
I later bought a FNS-9 at the recommendation. Of someone on /k/. It's a great platform super accurate. $$$ wise you can find them for about 400 some odd on slickguns.

Get a hi-point

Its not that hard m8, join a club and wait a year.
Or be a farmer like me.

Well, if someone has never shot a gun before, you're probably not going to suggest a Desert Eagle; well, nobody is going to suggest a desert eagle anyway, but the point remains.

If anon has the disposable cash to make his first gun a deagle brand deagle, and that's what he feels is gonna make him happy, he should go for it. If nothing else, he will learn a lot.

Best case scenario he will stamp the front sight on his forehead.
