What is the ideal pipe to use as a barrel? I might as well make a somewhat nice shotgun if I want it to last a while. What's a good strong pipe to use and how can I make sure it won't blow up? I usually see some kind of black seamless pipe but I don't know if there are different kinds or names for them.
use scheduled 40 to 80 seamless steel pipe
here is one source, but for that price you can get one off ebay that will be lighter probably a full choke

I think that is too small. The internal diameter isn't right.
>>31942743 you are right what you neede is 3/4'' pipe
what you would actually need is:
3/4'' nom scheduled 40 stainless seamless steel piipe >https://www.onlinemetals.com/merchant.cfm?pid=22623&step=4&showunits=inches&id=304&top_cat=1
or
3/4'' scedual 80 stanless steel seamless pipe

Should a slightly larger pipe and some filler like jb weld or something be slid over the chamber to reinforce it and help prevent unwanted explosions?
with scheduled 80 you should be fine but if you are afraid of a kaboom with scheduled 40. a 1'' x 6'' pipe can be used to reinforce the breach, I suggest using solder (you can re-melt and change barrels) instead of jb weld but you can do what you want also the tubes may need to be ground down some because the exterior if your barrel is 1.05'' and the barrel sleeve is 1'' may be a little under sized.

shotshells are pretty low pressure. if you're really concerned about kB! double the powder load on some 1oz slugs and shoot it from behind cover

I don't have my manual on me but I believe the max SAAMI chamber pressure for 2 3/4" 12 ga is 11,500 lbs/sq in. The schedule 80 pipe linked in this thread has a theoretical burst pressure of 22,000 lbs/sq in.
I'd recommend lighter loads and inspect the barrel for signs of ballooning or cracking after every few shots.
.22 shotshell time.

Duct tape is your answer.
Sounds like you want more than a slam bang, but for reference.

Make a gun entirely out of tape.
>>31948519
that's not a slam bang tho.

Rudimentary, my dear Watson.
It's simply the only image I have that relates. I meant it to confirm the 3/4th pipe.
