I don't double up and these work great.

The problem I find with them is with eyes on they can get loose on your ears.

Headphone style earpro doesn't protect as much as plugs do, and especially if you wear glasses or anything that breaks the seal of the earcups. Doubling up with plugs just reduces noise even further to be safe.

I have these. Question though.. is using the mic function only when you want to talk to people? Or is turning it on also supposed to help noise cancel? I only turn them on when I'm trying to talk to someone otherwise I leave them off. I have no clue, honestly.
