Can anybody help me figure out what type of Arisaka this is? It's 38 inches long from end to end and I couldn't find a serial.

IJA equipment isn't as collectible as German, British, or American equipment.
Especially the "last ditch" rifles, which are generally considered wallhangers.
Damn shame, because the Arisaka action was actually a fantastic piece of engineering. Better than the '98 pattern mauser, IMO.

If better you mean one of the strongest, sure. But the full 90 degree bolt rotationcoupled with cock on close is not as smooth as the mauser.

Say that to the Mauser model from 1889 to 186.
It's a Type 38 carbine made by Tokyo arsenal. It's in pretty lousy shape so it's not worth all that much. Looks like it was kept in a basement for years.
