We have future M4, AK, glock, Tar, M14, M60, P90 and pretty much everything else.... At least MW remastered was worth it, the one remake that gets praise for NOT changing a lot.

The only people who play Verdun are people who are already into realistic FPS and/or WWI. Arma, Wargame, IL-2 and the like will always have their niche audience, but BF1 managed to bring WWI to the the mass audiences, even in as twisted and fucked up form as it did. Nobody outside historian and firearm enthusiasts knows about something as insane as M1870 Vetterli rifle, but I'd bet even out of them, almost no one has heard of Hellriegel or Huot Automatic Rifle, which are standard weapons in BF1.

Its the kind of game where you put your head above the trench and get killed straight away, and the majority of people are armed with bolt actions, and maybe a pistol or the odd clunky MG that needs to be set up while lying down to fire. pretty accurate of the period.

I would say forgotten weapons focuses more on getting the facts right and dispelling myths rather than being about hyping up obscure weapons and making you think they were commonplace. Verdun is closer to what Ian would play, he even said so:
