The way that inertia and mass are handled in RO1 is way more natural and realistic and that was on an ancient Unreal engine.

bf1 is better then 4 was at launch but Ijust feel no incentive to keep playing. I hate that suppression does nothing except a blur'd visual impairment and snipers can still headshot you after 5 hitmarkets and a shitload of bullet zinging past them at medium to long range as support. Really banking on hardcore mode making the game more enjoyable. Oh and the auto aim on console is fucking ridiculous you can quick scope people with iron sights and 1 shot them if they;re within the guns 1hk range.

You can dislike the feeling of the engine but that doesn't make the game "not even remotely comparable" to RO1. The fact is that if you play remakes of RO1 maps like Tula or Kessel they play in exactly the same way as they did in RO1. You can't have the same exact gameplay on the same exact map and claim that the games aren't even remotely comparable. The new engine brings a lot of advantages over RO1 and the game does a good job of recreating the gameplay of RO1. The only time the gameplay is CoD-like is on maps that are designed like CoD maps like Barracks. If you literally just want to play RO1 then you're free to go play RO1, but that doesn't make RO2 shit.

I'm making a retro style milsim mech game (all graphics in webm related are placeholder mind you). What are some features or design decisions you'd like to see in such a game?
Presently I'm planning a high-lethality approach where things like avoiding detection or sharing target data among squad members is more important than twitch reactions.

Yeah, most info and buttons will be on screens in the cockpit/helmet (the two big ones will allow you to toggle between several modes, like suit diagnostics or the tactical map) while the visor area will mimic the hud of a fighter jet.

It gives yet another advantage to experienced players over new players, as if knowing maps, tactics and shieet isn't enough advantage.
Level itself as just slight indication of player experience is fine, makes it easy to find out when there is noobs in key positions like TL or SL.
