Looking at the zum, the US wont emulate the Chinese, but will keep trying to 3rd offset and create cutting edge shit, and then taking that shit and making it affordable.

Flight III's do this. Low RCS of the zum, radars of the zum, etc, but in an affordable package. Then the FSC will roll around and most likely be a tumblehome.

It also needs to be said that nothing major is preventing the US from making more zums, just budget. With a repub (and bombastic president) and a fully controlled house and senate, such things could very well be funded.
