My Mosin is 4 hours away. My AR is in my closet, and my .22 is in my car, yet I still greatly miss my Mosin. It might be that historical connection. Maybe the symbolism behind it, everything that it's been through, the rise and fall of eras.

I love my Mosin. If I had to pick one rifle to live with for the rest of my life, my Mosin would be it.

You mustn't have been looking for very long or very hard. I got my Mosin off Armslist last month for $200 and it came with a sling and a nice leather bag. It was a 1942 Izsvekh and fires very nicely. It's not the worst deal in the world but not the best if you are low on cash and really want to get bang for your buck. Has anyone tried one of those scope mounts that go on the rear sight dovetail? My M39 is a hell of a lot more accurate than I thought it would be, but my old ass eyes can only do so much with the irons.

there's definitely a "feeling" that comes with owning one, especially if you own a wartime model that almost certainly was in the hands of a soldier.
it's a firearm i do take pride in owning, something about the fact that someone used it for protection gives me reason to take special care of my 91/30 in general
