No you dunce, M1As require oil and grease. Old guns like grease, new guns like oil, and guns that fall in the transitional period of semi automatics prefer both. Go watch all of tonyben3 videos on youtube, you probably wont need all his tools since he's an armorer but you'll get an idea of what is required for maintenance.

Yes, I love M1A rifles. My old one in pic related was second hand and had a bunch of mismatched parts on a SOCOM receiver, it fucking hated reloads which was a deal breaker. Got a new one recently and I love it. (another SOCOM 16, haven't shot a cqb but i imagine it to be Almost the same). Watch out though, anything besides usgi or factory mags blow dick and will be unreliable.

springfield scope mounts are garbage. Sadlak is the way to go. If you encounter problems with your ejected brass bouncing off the mount and back into the bolt, replace your ejector with a USGI one.

I have aluminum, but Im new to it. I had the springfield and it's alignment was not directly over the bore. The sadlak lines up perfect. Its weird to install but not too bad. The aluminum is super light and the cheapest, so i went with it. I cant attest to its durability yet.

Mini's are great if you want a good gas operated semi in .223/5.56 and don't much care about the aftermarket.
