I'm all for not treating women like shit just because they are women. But men and women are not equal in all aspects.

If a woman can pass standards that are not lowered just for them, and they can get along well enough with their male counterparts and have the sense to realize they might have to do things a bit differently because they ARE different, then by all means let them serve.

For one thing it only works with the combat trades, and even those are iffy in many cases, like combat pilots and such. Not to mention the widespread use of mechanized forces in this day and age means that a soldier's ability to march and carry a backpack really means fuck all for their competence and capability. While firearms make the actual act of fighting an even playing field between men and women.

I can't say for the US Military but I'd imagine they do the same thing but in Britbongland all Infantryman (and any Cavalry, Engineers etc) train as Light Infantry as the standard. While you might be lucky to have the option of using mechanized assets you will be deployed onto an operation as Light Infantry if it's necessary.
