Replace the red and the black with something else and it'd be better.

High altitude autumn.
>>
>>31909225
Not even trying to shut post but I read somewhere that it's actually effective urban camo, I just assumed it's camp for a place with lots of red leaves
>>
>>31909225
Works well in the Rockies during fall and even a bit in spring desu
>>
>>31909225
stupid question
>>
It's actually pretty good in a less-green forest.

If I wanted something that only worked well in that kind of environment I'd wear realtree.

Switzerland, Spring, Summer and Winter.
>>
>>31909225
Like most older woodland camos, it's outperformed by many modern patterns. Like most older woodland camos, it works decently well in the woods.
>>
>>31909341
"autumn not winter my bad. got carried away.
>>
>>31909305
The human eye filters out the red wavelength and replaces it with whatever it sees fit, thats what this pattern was designed for. Just a bit of shade and works really well.

here you can see it in action on the tents
it really is surprisinly effective in the woods, i wish we never replaced it
>>
>>31909464
I hated to biwak, but Indeed its a shame we got rid of it. Together with the 6.5 rifle of W+F it would have been awesome.
>>
>>31909464
It's god-tier camo for forests.

TAZ90 is without the red. But the black is really effective, looks like tiny shadows from vegetation, rocks and so on. The landscape in switzerland is very cluttered in a visual sense, it's a green country, not an arid desert.
>>
>>31909635
>I WANT THIS RIFLE!

Because it has Downs, just like you?
>>
I have a full set, it's pretty great even tho at first glance it looks like shit.

The Swiss Army was trialing new weapons and cartridges in the late 1970's to replace the aging StGW.57. Among the trial rifles was the C42, a 6.45x48mm assault rifle with an unusual layout. The trigger guard was enlarged to facilitate for thick cold-weather gloves. Different variants were produced, including carbines and bullpup models.

So what's the fucking deal with GP11? I can almost never find it in stores anymore and when I do it's over $0.65/rd. Even the online stores never have more than a few dozen cases. Are you alpenjuden running out of the stuff?
>>
>>31910052

>why is this WW2 round only used in antique rifles so hard to find?
>>
>>31910052
Last run was a time ago. New production with all new machinery started a preseries of 1mio rounds 50/50 Army&gunclubs split to evaluate.
>>
>>31910082
>pre WWI to be precise
Also this would imply 9mm and .45 would be hard to find.

I was being sarcastic because i actually work. Its the way everything is lead, like not at all. Instead of the lmg specialists some other fucktards are sent to clean them. Result: One nearly shot out his eye with the recoilspring. GG
During DD I, a sargent and another soldier had to send away the fucktard women in charge of the material (yes the mat. chef was a woman so incompetent she locked herself out of the storage because the reserve key was inside "where it was convinient to grab when inside") and organize recieving the material (end of service, giving it back again) actually sort the stuff to check it and so on. (Nachschub/Rückschub incompetent as always) just standing next to us doing nothing as we armorers do THEIR FUCKING WORK. Thats why I decided to change the system from the inside.
>>
I enjoy listening to other nation's soldiers talk about what it was like serving. Its like no matter where you're from you get to put up with the same crap.

After 300 days I can say this picture is 100% accurate.

My company was 235km away and I was in a detatchment of 6 people including 2 seargents.
Company commander of the place we stayed didnt give a single fuck about us. The NCO looking after the barracks and so on just said as long as we dont do any shit he doesnt care about us. Orderly room? Just clean enough. Gaming all evening when no leave, leave 2x times a week for us no limit when to return, Lights out at around 2. Wake up call, lol whats that? Directly to work in the armory at 8 finished at 4. Going to the public pool. Dinner at 6. repeat. Return to company on friday afternoon for leave home until sunday night.

One evening I didnt see a point in going out since my locker was filled with beer and booze so I just drank it all. Somehow I decided it was a good idea to leave the room afterwards... In the WW2 seargent uniform I had from a flea market. First encounter was a platoon doing pushups whilst screaming platoon bla bla cant recall with no force behind it. I did 20 more than them and screamed even louder. Later I did some Marching with some cows on the perimeter, they gatherd in a semi circle alright. Just that moment a seargent tried to fuck me on wearing that uniform and I just sent them away saying its A Tenu Sport which is not regulated except it may only contain one visible current issue clothing and B that this ordonnance uniform has been out of service decades before he was shitting his diaper (maybe not in these words) and I moved YET along to do the obstacle course. Completly shitfaced I returned to my room. I met 2 lovely recruits on guard duty doing a patrol on bikes and they just asked me why the fuck I just did the obstacle course.

Army, best time of my life.

My brother wasted 20 protected capricorns with a mortar barrage, lots of paperwork for a young lieutenant, but at least the cooks where happy.

>>
>>31910509
You need to always have it nice with the cooks and the fourier (guy that manages money and food) everytime after leave we went to the kitchen where they cooked up something nice.
>>
>>31910587
They made Capricorn steak and stew for the next couple days. Gamekeeper was not so happy.
>>
>>31910082
Fuck you, the MG51 is still in service. We still use GP11!
>>
>>31910669
Can Imagine but well its not like they aimed at them on purpose. Not unlike the fucking ruskies who shot down a rare bird nailed him on a target, shot him several times and paraded him on the barracks paradeground. That Company got dissolved and the Lts put in jail.
>>
>>31910699
Fucking welschs, i still can't decide who makes worse soldiers. Them or the ticinesi

The red actually blends very well into anything autumn-like. Also many suburban environments with red bricks, sand and other materials.

That is due to the fact that each colour is perceived based on it's surroundings. Like these optical illusions with "which grey is darker?" when in fact, one just seems darker due to it having white next to it, with the other having black next to it. Same idea applies here, the red blends in very well in the aforementioned backgrounds. Also remember lighting to play a huge role.

I learned that being too overmotivated in the army just leads to problems. But these guys... It's just too much. And they are punished for it, but still continue in their ways. Why don't they learn to behave like humans? They are just fucking themselves over. I rather stay in and have some beers in my bunk, they choose to run around in gas masks at 1 in the morning until they puke.
