I don't know where the fuck people get this idea that the military isn't paid well, but it's horseshit.

I got out as an E-5 w/ BAH and BAS and I was doing pretty well. You have healthcare, dental, legal (if needed), counseling, etc. available at no extra cost. Yes, those things are sometimes ineffective but it's fucking garbage when people say "the troops aren't paid enough".

Christ. I had to sit in on a financial counseling session with an E-3 who didn't know how to budget and ended up having his car repossessed.

It isn't that they aren't earning enough, it's that most of them join without a sense of financial responsibility and act like its someone else's problem when reality kicks in
