Recommend me a good knife to protect myself against miscreants
>fixed blade, approx 4"
>good blade geometry
Double edged or single?
Also I'm not afraid of softer steels like 440A, my edc is pic related

That looks like it has an inline lock though
OP here, what of the Schrade F14
>>31896389
It is indeed not a fixed blade
But finding anything fixed, affordable, and under 4"
Unobtanuim Breh.
Pic related is fixed and affordable, but damn near a foot long.

I'd prefer a flatter finish on the blade itself desu, but I like the aggressive drop point and the sheath

Just get a Benchmade Griptilian or Minigriptilian and be done.

If you would be okay with a 5 1/2" blade I would recommend the Akbar Becker bk2
look a t schrade knives you cant go wrong with those
double edged is most likely illegal unless you live in a non-cucked state
boot knives are nice.
maybe a cold steel counter tac 1
or a schrade boot knife
gerber bootknife
etc etc
cant beat these

you want a thumb ramp and/or jimped spine,
Preferably with a front quillion and/or finger choil.
single or double edge is insubstantial, the ideal application for lethality is a thrust/stab attack, but without adequate length your only premium targets are eyes/neck/throat/elbow/thigh for the potential damage to senses, arteries and tendons, with the goal being death or incapacitate, and inflicting disabilities enabling you to ultimately prevail.
Any 4" single edge should be fine.
Kabar mark 1 is a great durable multipurpose design with a non-slip handle material, although it is bgger than your initial intent.
I've never heard someone talk smack about the ESEE 3 either. but both of those are just a drop in the ocean.
Make sure you stay away from meme knives like karambits.
Yes they are both neat and concealable, but for self defense, unless you ARE in fact a WELL TRAINED martial artist, they are useless to you, and far less useful as a non-combat tool (aka conventional knife)
