Redpill me on single stack 9x19.

I am looking for my first CC. I already own several full size 9mm. My list of things to consider so far:

Glock 43
S&W Shield
Walther PPS
Colt Defender
Beretta Nano
Sig 938
Sig 290RS
Ruger LC9
Springfield XDs
Springfield EMP 3"

Are any of these terrible and not worth looking at? Are there good contenders I'm missing here?

Is it reliable?
Is it reasonably accurate?
Okay, it's met the minimum "good gun" criteria IMO.

Beyond that, it's gonna come down to how it feels to you personally. I think the shield is a nice compromise because it's a bit bigger than your standard subcompact single stack.

A bit of extra heft is welcome in my book when looking at a category of gun notorious for not being soft shooting.

I really like my Shield. Ran it through mud tests and about 500 rounds during my last outing. Ran like a champ. Not saying it's what you should get, it's just what I like
>>
>>31889947
herea how I feel about them, theyre a good concept but theres better options.

take the glock 43, neat its a single stack glock but the glock 26 is only .18 inches wider and holds twice as many rounds and fills the hand making it easier to shoot.

Theyre made for people who play the numbers game, in reality theres no difference in concealing a 1 inch gun and a 1.5inch gun but people watch shit like nutnfancy and he talks about it needing to weigh so many ounces and be so long and all this shit but 10 ounces here and an inch here dont matter.

>tl;dr get a subcompact or a compact for better handling and capacity.
>>
>>31889947
I vote XDs for reliability, double integrated safety, potential clip holster, and dashing good looks

the 43 is noticeably slimmer than the 26

yeah there may be no difference in concealing them if you're sticking the weapon between your fat rolls but for the rest of us who don't wear cargo shorts on a daily basis and need to deep conceal the 43/single stacks have a significant advantage
>>
>>31889947
LC9 is shit IMO, but the LC9S is nice. Very good trigger. Ergos aren't the best though, I find the Shield much more comfy to shoot.

I hate the XDs.

Those are the only ones on your list I have experience shooting. I'd really like to shoot a PPS Gen1 though.
>>
>>31890172

Is that a 938?
>>
>>31890149
i shoot my 42 better than my 26.
>>
>>31890375
Yes sir.
BRG flavor.
Thick, rubber grip that finishes off the hand and ergo.
>>
>>31890137
How much of a bitch the front sight is on those things is getting me to buying a sight pusher.
>>
I know this is a single stack thread and out of all your picks, I really like the xds, but you should consider the cz rami bd. Weighs a little more due to its aluminum frame but it's only slightly bigger than the g43 and holds more. I love cz though so I might be biased.
>>
>>31890137
+1
also now comes in 45 if thats what gets ur dick hard, same size same capacity
>>
I tried a PPS M1 and I really didn't like it because it was so blocky, the M2 looks great though and I really want to give it a try, I ended up not buying a single stack 9 at that time.
>>
>>31890137
can you red pill me on why you would throw a shit ton of dirt on your pistol ?
>>
>>31891721
btw, I EDC the shield 9mm performance center, great gun
>>
I have a Shield, G43, and a PM9, Shield is the best of the bunch imo. Might try a PPS M2 just for yucks and chucks. 938 and XD are out for me, don't like the safety. And lolNano.
>>
>>31891721
A fun test. Got the chamber muddy, rubbed the magazine in mud too. Don't worry, I gave it a thorough cleaning afterwards
>>
>>31889947
>Sig 938
I love mine when it works, but I absolutely hate the fact that it is finicky beyond limits. FTEs and stovepipes happen way too often to feel comfortable carrying it. Gotta admit, though, that they happen with range ammo and I, being the cheapass that I am, only simulate the real life draw and empty the mag into the target with hollow points about once a month - HPs are expensive. So, if you're willing to try your luck, get one and see if it works for you. Don't make your judgement based on range rentals - those are usually filthy as hell and might fail a couple of times per mag.
>>
I'm a Beretta fanboy but the Nano is p shit
my favorite from that list is Walther PPS, Glock 43 is also excellent.
>>
>>31892698

Are you me?

But seriously OP, this. PPS is a good CC pistol. Get an Aliengear holster and you're set.

I like my Walther CCP. Bought it because of inRangeTV, and I am a contrarian hipster.

>pros
Really easy to shoot. Feeds HST and hydra shok just fine. Grip fit my hands nicely, and the texture is surprisingly grippy.

>cons
Gets dirty fast. I get about one or two FTF's after putting ~150 rounds through it in one range trip. Takedown is frustrating at first, then less frustrating after some practice.
>>
>>31893408
One or two FTF's after putting 150 rounds through it? That's not the gun getting dirty quickly... that's Umarex trash. Buying a non-Ulm Walther is retarded. I have 2k+ rounds through my PPQ and my PPS (both M1's) without ever cleaning or oiling them and they are my EDC's (depending on clothing for the day) without a single FTF or FTE on either. And my fun, range ammo is super dirty Remington UMC.
>>
>>31893241
The shield comes with two magazines, a 7 and an 8. The rami comes with a 10 and a 14.... Neither of these cases is a 1 round difference.
>>
>>31893510
there is a 1 round difference between my 9 round magazine and the 10 round for the rami
shield is still shorter
>>
Whats all the hate on the beretta nano? Ive been thinking about getting one, felt pretty good when i held it.
>>
>>31889947

Glock 43 - Shit sights, most people hate it.
S&W Shield - Shit trigger, unless you drop $200 on an Apex trigger.
Walther PPS - The master race of single stack 9s. Well above the rest.
Colt Defender - Don't know on this one.
Beretta Nano - I like it.
Sig 938 - This would be my second choice after the Walther. Keep in mind this has a safety.
Sig 290RS - Shit
Ruger LC9 - Shittier shit
Springfield XDs - Croatia shit
Springfield EMP 3" - Croatia shit

Totally worth it, softest shooting single stack 9 I have ever owned.
>>
I was facing the same choice a year ago.

I went with an lc9s pro for 300 with three mags and two holsters.

Trigger is way better than my glocks, ergos are just fine (came with talon grip, pretty decent). I can forget about it in most pockets with my nemesis holster.

Wish it were prettier. Would have bought the 938, but ive heard it has too many problems.

Also, im not a great shot but i can hit a soda can 2/3 times at 20 yards

Kel-Tec PF9 anon here.
Boberg XR9-S (heard it was now being made by Bond Arms and called the Bullpup?) also is a pretty good gun. Longer barrel because of the whole "bullpup" thing, but still the same length as any other compact/subcompact.
>>
>>31891568
Ramis are like almost g26 size dude
There is a reason they've been discontinued.
>>
>>31889947
Of the ones you mentioned I would go for the Walther pps (if you want a bigger single stack 9mm), glock 43 and ruger lc9 pro (for breddy small single stack 9mm) and Kahr cm9, pm9 or sig 938 (for super small single stack 9mm.)
>>
>>31894184
My room mate has one. Its SAO but has a pretty heavy trigger. Maybe 7 lbs? I'd be okay with it, but ymmv.
>>
>>31893915

Who cares how it looks? for less than $300 the PPX is the best gun you can get brand new, bar none.
>>
>>31893905
>Aliengear holster
Subjective. I own both, and an SP2022 is leaps and bounds better with the AG over the stealth.
>>
OP I have the springfield EMP and I love it, it is my baby. It is such a sexy 1911, so fun to shoot. However, it's going to be a few hundred dollars more than those other guns you said. Also keep in mind that since the barrel is shorter, you wont be as accurate as you would another gun with a longer barrel.

more or less the same concept as any pistol. Buy from a well known and respected brand and you should be ok. Still air on the side of caution and do research on what you find, the smaller a pistol the more likely it can have problems. Im not one for ultra tiny subcompacts either. I tired a sig p238 and hated it, it felt like a toy youd get in a cereal box. Ii need a little but more gun to grab onto myself, so dont think you need the tiniest things on the market
>>
>>31893448
Gotta agree with you. p99 and ppq and ppqm2 will just plain run beautifully, pps isn't quite as great, but it's pretty great. ccp is not great. it feels dumb. i'd honestly rather shoot the p22 than the ccp.
yes, i have all of those, and then some. i'm a walther nut.

I just finally got an original PPS 9mm and it's been a good edc so far. Before that I had been either carrying a pocket .32 or the ppq depending on how much clothes i was wearing.
i ordered a stealthgear holster for the pps a week ago and i can't fucking wait to get it.
>>
>>31889947
They're perfect for summer activities like cycling or whatever.
Walther PPS with +1 is best.
Glock 43 is too nice small for someone with big hands to hold a grip on, rubber sleeve might help.
XDS in 45 is surprisingly nice shooting as well but trigger has a lot of creep.

Colt and sigs, 938, are best avoided IMO.

XDs in 9mm. It's pretty nice. I've had exactly 3 stoppages, all within the first 100 rounds through it, and I've put well over 3,000 rounds through it.

Something to note, those three stoppages were with shitty ammo and a new magazine. So most likely not the guns fault.

Also available in .40 S&W and .45 ACP.

With the 9mm you can have a 7 round flush mag, 8 round slightly extended, or 9 round extended.
>>
>>31890225
>I like the shield but not the XDs
You have no taste. The shield looks like down syndrome from the waist down
>>
I have a G43 and frankly, it's exactly what you need for concealed carry. It's not too small that someone's gargantuan hands would struggle to wield it, but not too bulky that a smaller person (lady, manlet, etc.) would fight with getting it out of a holster and aimed downrange.

People complain that it's only 6+1 but these are the same people that have only ever owned, say, G17 mod 3's and whatnot. After all, it's designed for reduced size.

It's nice.

I love my XDS, 1000+ rounds and no failures. Price point is also a thing. For a little bit more than a shield, you get something that just looks 100% better and has more innovative features. Grips safety, loaded chamber indicator, nice trigger, and internal safety.

Pic of mine.
>>
>>31899981

>Boberg XR9-S (heard it was now being made by Bond Arms and called the Bullpup?) also is a pretty good gun. Longer barrel because of the whole "bullpup" thing, but still the same length as any other compact/subcompact.

Kel-tec's problem was they were a little manufacturer and they didn't have great tolerance controls. This resulted in many guns having to be hand fit to work. That's not a sustainable practice. They've undergone some process changes, received some process certifications and hired some additional staff. None of the stuff that mentions their ISO 9000 cert on the box has come back for not working. They've really stepped their game up.

Bond Arms hasn't actually released the bullpup. You can't order one right now. They say they're going to support the Boberg guns but Bond Arms hasn't made anything but derringers forever so the space pope only knows if they'll be any good or their repairs will work.
