Just got done with a parts list and pricing out said list for an 11.5" carbine and an SPR build.

$1740 for the Carbine
$1896 for the SPR

Before tax and shipping

Not including optics/mounts/bipods etc. only parts on the actual rifle

Fugg

Spend next year and a half of gun money on 2 AR's??

Buy other guns???

Not be a poorfag and do both???

It's either you do it right now and
>kick yourself because Trump gets elected and panic stops
Or you don't and
>Hillary gets elected and no guns because Obama can pull an executive action with no backlash

Personally, pick the one you want the most and build it now, and buy ammo with the other money.

I know there are some parts I can spend less for good stuff on-- some of these prices are also full retail, which I do not typically pay working in a gun shop.

Morale of the story is its alot of money to spend for 2 guns when I see it all laid out
>>
>>31887634
>all that money and you get an alg act
same thing tho, i would change the bcg, buis, and tube

Question for you guys, my recent build is double firing. I function checked it as follows
1. Pull charging handle back on empty mag, bolt locke open
2. Release bolt, dry fire, keep trigger held back
3. Pull charging handle all the way back and release with trigger still held back
4. Slowly release trigger with bolt closed and hammer drops again
What did I do wrong
>>
I bought a 762sdn can, and I have 900 to spend. Should I buy a 300 blk upper or should I buy 9mm can?
>>
>>31887640
desu a lot of builds here are around the 1.5-2k range with no optics.

if you are worried about spending a lot of money drop the lantac bcg
>>
>>31887634
Drop the BCG and Barrel. Both are way too beaucoup for what you are getting. Plus why a cutout rail with a gas block?

You installed a spring incorrectly.

Ensure none of them are
1. Backwards
2. hammer springs are underneath trigger pin
>>
>>31887640
my SPR upper + optic was 1534.99, without the cryptic BCG
lower + trigger was 440.00

the carbine was significantly cheaper, 280 for the lower and 400 for the upper

I traded my 9mm AR for a USP Compact (2003, pic related) and $400. Made out pretty well considering I priced out individual parts for my AR9 and that totaled to be ~$950 (not even including deals/package deals from when I built) without the light or sights which weren't included in the trade. Supposedly it was a safe queen. Fired about 50 rounds through it and I love it.

18" 1:8 twist barrel either salt bathed or chrome lined in rifle gas length.

I am only finding a very few good barrels in that narrow search.

Criterion Hybrid barrel
Larue Stealth barrel

Anyone else have any suggestions? I personally wouldn't have mind dropping $300 for a Daniel Defense CHF or Noveske, but DD only makes 1:7 twist and Noveske's 18" barrel is $400+

And I'm going for 1:8 because I'll only be shooting 69gr-77gr occasionally with mainly 55gr and 62gr.

It's pretty standard. You don't want too tight a fit, or the stock may get seized up changing postions. You may beven able to add some padding material along the length of the stock. I dont think there's much point to stressing over it.

putting aside any manufacturer specific weirdness, most common .308 AR's should be able to take AR-15 triggers, most parts in the LPK, grip, stock, buffer, pins, etc.

obviously the entire upper half is different, and can even be different through different pattern designs.
>>
>>31889484
Well, there was that. There was also the guy in Arizona that just about made it to the stage, I think with his own gun.

But of course, that completely gets paved the fuck over in the news, despite the fact that if there's anyone who has been hated enough to try for half a century it'd be Hillary and nobody's even tried.

Here's mockups of my in progress 308 builds. The 20" currently has an A2 grip & stock and a Burris mount. The 18" is basically just a lower and LPK right now.

Buy list:
>Buffer tube assembly (6-pos tube, spring, buffer, end plate, castle nut)
>Geissele G2S trigger
>Ace AR-UL stock
>2 Magpul MIAD grips
>Rainier Match 18" mid gas barrel
>Adjustable gas block & mid gas tube
>Handguard assembly [Midwest SS12 ($185) or SSM12 ($200), Armalite FF aluminum ($80), or Armalite 3-Gun ($200)]
>Armalite AR-10T complete upper receiver
>BCM Mod3 charging handle
>Bolt carrier group
>Upper vise block set

Probably looking at $1160 to complete the 18" upper and $375 to complete both lowers.I've got half a thought to buying an Armalite 3-Gun 18" upper ($1365) with their new tuneable brake and a Raptor charging handle.

Quick question, when an ar15 is down to an empty mag and the bolt gets locked to the rear is it because the bolt is lodged on the magazine follower?

no the magazine follower presses upwards on the bolt catch which then catches the bolt.

The magazine follower pushes up on a small tab in the receiver. That tab is what holds the bolt back

Been lurking these gens for a month now and since I haven't figured it out by myself, I was wondering if anybody could post a guide to buying an AR? prebuilt since i'm a fucking neanderthal - i have no idea what manufacturers are good, and what price range is reasonable for a decent AR

tldr is there an AR gen starter kit somewhere?

sorry for newfag, thanks
>>
Before I go and nigger rig something up, question for people who actually know things:

Is there an end plate that attaches to a rifle buffer tube when the stock is removed?

What I'm thinking is that if I want to put a pistol upper on my lower I'd have to legally remove the stock. But if I did that my rear takedown detent and spring isn't secure. Does anyone make anything for this oddly specific scenario? I would never ever put the stock on with a pistol upper and would never just keep it around just for insurance purposes.
>>
>>31891443
What's your budget? A kit will require you to assemble the lower yourself. It's actually very easy, I would recommend you watch a youtube video on assembling a lower and upper. If you really think you can't do it kys and buy a prebuilt
>>
>>31891443
Just tell us what your budget is and what the AR is for, its pretty easy to do. Really you should be building regardless, it isn't any harder than an erector set.
>>
What grease or oil should I use for my new AR?

I've always used CLP because I have no brain and then hoppoes lubricating oil but is 5W-30 a better choice for lube?

Here's what I'm thinking I'm gonna rig up. A normal endplate (red), with (green) two parallel metal connecting bars on either side of the tube welded to the plate and extending back over (yellow) an A2 end cap, and secured by (blue) a regular stock screw. That's probably secure enough to hold in the detent, easier to switch in and out of, and its pistol-legal.

Others are fluid, pistols can go back and forth, but if it starts life as a rifle its always a rifle. Mine started as an other so it can be whatever.

Anybody here run a piston system on their AR-15?

I have heard that it increases reliability, but I am new to guns in general so I don't know. I understand the physics/mechanics of why they argue that. Does it make a big difference? Also, if you have a pretty run-of-the-mill AR-15, is converting to a piston system easy to do?

This is the worst general on 4chan, and I go on /sp/ regularly
>>
>>31892724
it makes no difference
except that the shoehorned piston system adds more complexity and more parts to break.
not that a piston AR can't be made completely reliable, it's just 'solving' a problem that does not exist.

it's a way for companies too add cost to products under the guise of increasing reliability.
it's a gimmick, plain and simple.

falling for it makes you naive and stupid

There are quite a few indie games that might work for you. FTL might be one of them. Of course you won't be able to play many FPS but I honestly haven't felt the need to in ages. Look around. Indie games aren't only for libshit hipsters.

Anyone else's KAC rear sight have a little rotational play in it at the aperture? Is this normal? I figure it won't affect zero because its only a degree or so, and since its rotating the point of aim won't change, but it bothers me.
