Both are good rifles with unique pros and cons. Trying to compare them is apples to oranges, though. I'm an AK guy but I would not be upset if given an AR to use.

Ar mags dent easy, the platform assumes a supply chain of new mags. AKs have tough mags, easier to live a life of banging around terrain and have your mags survive. On that long of a time frame you will have difficulty finding ammo if you are in the USA.
