As far as strength, they're roughly equal and the difference is so minor that by the time either breaks you've ruined the rest of the rifle.

Forged has more rounded corners and is generally more comfortable to carry/shoot. Billet can have some neat-but-not-necessary features like ambi controls baked in, and depending on how it was milled can be a bit lighter (but is generally actually heavier unless specifically designed to be an ultralight receiver).

Billet uppers have been, in my experience, more consistently true as far as the barrel extension, but still not "true enough" for a real match rifle (IE, they still need to be cleaned up). I think this is at least partially because billet uppers tend to mainly come from reputable manufacturers instead of places like PA, SAA, etc.

So billet sounds better due to tighter tolerances and tend to come from reputable manufacturers. Weight won't be an issue.

the tighter tolerances bullshit is a marketing gimmick
billet exists because it's so easy to set up CNC machines now and charge more for it.
it looks neat, that's literally the only upside
it's not going to make your rifle any more accurate.

Neither is really better than the other outside of very specific circumstances (ultralight build for billet vs. clone build for forged).

But anyway, I'd say Mega followed by Rainier followed by Black Rain (their rollmarks are cringe but the receivers are excellent).

And the "tighter tolerances" thing is marketing bullshit, and the upper to lower fit really doesn't matter for actual function.

what did he mean by this
>>
>>31881689
Only when comparing uppers from wildly different price brackets (such as a Mega matched set vs. a SAA stripped).

And even then if you want serious accuracy you should chuck it in a lathe and true up the barrel extension. Which you could do just as easily with a cheapshit forged upper from a no-name company, since it literally just slides over a mandrel.

So I don't know much about pistol ARs, but from what I've heard they're sort of like circumcision.

Piston ARs stay cleaner, but if you have a regular AR and wash up regularly you've never have any problems.

you dont even need to clean DI AR's regularly to have them run well

pistons just add weight and parts wear, and in terms of cleaning, you still have to clean the piston system, where all that carbon ends up instead of the bolt

Olympic Arms is literally the worst AR manufacturer. They are what Vulcan turned into, and between the two have racked up more KB'd guns than all other manufacturers combined.

i literally said anybody can find a problem with any magazine. they are the weak point of any weapon.

lancers work fine for me, pass drop tests, no issues. clearly that guy managed to get them to fuck up. other people complain about cracked pmags, others about dented gov mags. so far there is no perfect mag.

Not a trip fag. My grandpa was retired military. He bought a lot of rental properties that I take care of. So I get senpai business money from a man that made sure I was armed from age 6. As long as I keep money rolling in for my grandmother, I make my own hours.
>>
>>31882551
while i prefer pmags, i like lancers. that being said, i dont like the idea of having all one brand of AR magazine.
i think its a good idea to find reliable mags and diversify. GIs, pmags, lancers, get some of all of them.

>A1 or A2 stock from literally anywhere
Pair that with a nice bull barrel from a reputable company (Faxon makes a "heavy profile" that's very nice, though slightly different aesthetic, or buy a DPMS. Lots of people shit on DPMS because they're the epitome of basic bitch, but they're very high quality).

Noooot really. That guarantee is "we'll replace it if it breaks. The part's free, but we charge $20 shipping both ways and we'll take our sweet time sending you the replacement".

There is nothing keeping it from breaking before 30k rounds, and once you factor in 2-way shipping it's only marginally less expensive than buying a regular [whichever part].

dated? i would say no. theyre very popular and with good reason. its pro grade equipment thats durable and reliable. whether or not thats worth the $400 (or whatever you spend on it) is up to you.

Got my upper from the mail room just a few minutes ago

And I went and bought the lower. Too bad it's a goofy stag arms lower with the second amendment as a rollmark (stamp?) on the right side of the receiver. But it was either that or $250 for a Spikes lower.

But I figured out at least that the little piece to the M5 rail was not necessary, unless I had an M203.

A2 lower parts kit is in the mail right now, in Tennesse.

Thanks boss.

Yeah, I'm not too concerned about the lower. I just wanted something plain, but it was that or one of those Warthog ones. Not that they're bad, just not what I wanted in an A4gery

This is my second AR15, my first one was regrettably in .300 BLK, not the best choice for a college student. So I sold that one, all the ammo I had and the Pmag it came with but I have two 30 round GI mags and some vintage GI 20 rounders

I'm really impatient for the lower parts kit, I can't wait.

Just like those lever release VZ58s, it's a neat concept and solution to crap laws.

Looking at SGCs website and the exploded diagram I'm gonna say no to drop-in triggers - they offer three models of trigger for it, all own-branded and all named as lever release triggers. In order for them to be able to sell it in the UK it can't be easy to modify into a semi-automatic. I think it's good for anything outside of the receivers though. I'm not that knowledgeable on the workings of the AR15 so maybe it'd be as simple as putting the upper on different lower.
>>
