This comes after statements that no new money will be ever be needed.

What in the flying fuck are they spending all that money on? Truckloads of whiskey, cocaine and hookers?

Yes

>linking to bloomberg.

Fuck off, get that bullshit out of here.

You know that cunt of a website writes hit pieces for ANYTHING not on their anti-gun liberal puss party agenda.
>>
>>31879857
How do I get in on it?
>>
>>31879850
More than likely the electronics. Most complicated systems by far. Get used to it, anything you're going to build these days and not just throw together is going to take years of software/hardware development.
>>
>>31879870
Yeah, but why at this cost? It's contractors being corrupt again, isn't it?
>>
>>31879825

An additional $500 million is a small price to pay for retaining air superiority for the next generation. Fund it.
>>
>>31879906
The F-35 will only obtain air superiority over the T-50 and J-20 through superior numbers.
>>
>>31879896
Do you know how to program?
Yeah, contractors are a bunch of jews but typically they do deliver, and often their subcontractors are small companies where the real top notch technical expertise happens.
>>
>>31879825
Jesus the Amis can't build anything worth a damn anymore.
>>
Here's why the F-35 exists.

In 2006, Congress upheld the ban on exporting the F-22 for sale. Obviously, Lockheed Martin wasn't going to just sit around and watch all that export cash vanish.

So they came up with the F-35. Like the incredibly popular F-16, it's single-engine and multi-role, which in theory makes it ideal for nations who only operate a small number of combat aircraft on a light budget, since the planes can fill more roles and are less maintenance intensive.

But who was going to pay for development of this new fighter? Lockheed? Hell no, we can sell the concept to the US government and they'll pay our R&D costs.

But to justify what was supposed to be a fairly cheap aircraft for small nations to the USAF, they jam packed it with a shitload of technology, some of which was probably mostly theoretical at the time.

Naturally, this causes a shitload of problems because it's way outside the scope of the original plans. Not that LM cares, as long as Congress keeps shoveling cash.

Yeah....its not like the JSF program goes back to the early 90's or anything...
>>
>>31879850
Partly that.

It's not like the JSF dates back the 90s or anything

>Like the incredibly popular F-16, it's single-engine and multi-role, which in theory makes it ideal for nations who only operate a small number of combat aircraft on a light budget, since the planes can fill more roles and are less maintenance intensive.
>implying multroles are inferior

Dumbass

That's what F-15 is for. F-35 is unfit to gain superiority over anyone outside the hangar.

Wow it's literally nothing.

You're one of those nostalgia fags aren't you?
>>
>>31880597

The F-35 is superior to the F-15 by every possible metric. You can argue that there are still some areas were the F-15 has better aerodynamic performance, but that's just not enough anymore. A modern fighter needs to be able to kill its opponent from beyond visual range will preventing the enemy from doing the same in return.
>>
>>31879850
No, my very good sir! Recreational expense would be a waste of money.
The additional 500 million will be responsibly used on PR events and promotion campaigns of requesting more money for the development of F35.

Let the free market fix it - let them sell engines to China to finance the F-35!

Yes, and also because the Chinese have already acquired so much classified data of the F-35 that it needs to be revamped from the bottom.

Why else would the Chinese OFFICIALLY write on the billboard that their new KLJ-7A export AESA is directly better than the radar of the F-35?

Billboard in question. You only really need to understand the "F-35" written there.
>>
>>31883671
I mean I was going to argue with you, but if it's on a billboard, I guess it must be true.
>>

it says it's performance is the same as the radar of the F35.
>>
>>31883655
>>31883671
...Because the Chinese are insecure commie fucktards who write that shit to convince their own people, and it's usually made up by political officers?

But the KLJ-7 series isnt even used by China themselves.

It's a radar for the JF-17 export fighter, as used by Pakistan and soon Myanmar.
>>
Lockheed didn't do nothing wrong. They are a good company. They were just about to get their design back on track. They just need more money for them development programs.
