Covered in cosmoline
>>31867260
Anyone on here ever dealt with a loose forestock?
How do I go about fixing this?
>>31867259
I raise you...bayonet!
>>31867277
Repro or original?
>>31867276
You can shim around the barrel to reduce the gaps.
I've seen both wax paper or oil soaked rags used.
>>31867290
Sadly an RFI repro, but my No7 MkI/L is original.
>>31867276
Bands fit right?
One common cause is worn draws. May need to inlet some new wood.
>>31867301
Did the repro fit without modification?
picked up a lithgow 45 no 3, looks awesome but gonna get it checked out before I shoot it, it has yellow drill paint on it (and remnants of green paint on the barrel)
the bolt was pretty awful but once I cleaned it, it's been really smooth
looks to be really fun
tfw no qt3.14 SMLE
>>31867316
I've had two, the first one did not, wouldn't even line up properly. This one however locks on with no issue.
>hit and miss quality
>>31867338
What a shame. Too bad originals or fairly rare and expensive. I managed to get a savage made bayonet for my savage No.4 Mk.1*
I love that rifle to death. It's all matching, even the stock.
>>31867315
The bands are pretty solid. Most of the movement is stemming from the front trigger guard screw.
I checked the bushing length and it's not the issue either.
I'm convinced that the Lee Enfield was the best bolt action battle rifle ever made. And I'm pissed that there was never a left handed version.
I want a jungle carbine version that fires .223
>>31867472
That would be amazing. I wish the Enfield action was copied into other rifles.
>>31867533
I looked into converting a 7.62 x 51 ishapore to .223 but it would require a new barrel and a new bolt head to be imported from England. The new barrel is at least available and most competent gunsmiths can install it. I don't know about the bolt head, and I heard it would require a lot of paperwork to import since it's a "pressure part".
>>31867472
A couple years ago I saw a No. 5 that had been converted to .223 and took mini-14 magazines.
>>31867548
That would be awesome. However, you might as well get a Ruger gunsite scout.
>>31867472
CZ makes a .223 carbine with a superior Mauser action
>>31867728
I want the lee enfield aesthetics.
That said, I wouldn't mind converting a .223 mauser carbine to become a G40k lookalike.
I traded a derringer I picked up for $80 for an Ishapore 2a1 missing the hand guards.
I know nothing about enfields and this is my first, how'd I do? Are stocks hard to come by?
>general
Fucking stop this cancerous shit.
>>31868100
Exactly how new are you
>>31867378
Moving up and down or side to side? Never seen either but if the screw is somehow too long that would do it. But what the other anon said about draws is right, the draws alone should hold the stock tight against the receiver. If it's loose look to them first.
>>31868123
So new that I remember when we just had threads and not generals all over the place. Especially not obnoxious ones with 'general' in the title.
Let me put it another way, do you want an Enfield general that garners as much hate as the AR one? Becuase if you're not careful that's what you might start.
Post American Enfields.

>>31867301
Mines original na na na
>>31868124
The receiver will move side to side.
The barrel can only be pulled downward, it's making contact with the top handguard.
