Check out the barrel length.
Don't be a bad hombre

USMC KAC rear sight arrived today. Brand new in package. MBUS Pro also arrived, along with 10 smoke lancer rebuild kits.

If my camping trip this weekend gets cancelled I might be building the pinned 14.5"
All the parts are in except for a vfg, but that can come later.

Ok, now I am triggered.

Longer barrel (up to a point), means more powder burned, which means faster bullet out the barrel, which means more distance traveled per time and unit of drop due to gravity, which means it is 'more accurate' at longer distances.

You don't want to help build positive childhood memories for them?

You can help instill a sense of community in them, and keep an American tradition alive. At least leave out a bowl of candy.

Think of it this way, if we stop doing Halloween and Trick or Treat, ISIS wins.

Anyone got any pistol grip suggestions? I'm looking for a steep angle, but I don't want the B5 P-Grip, BCM Gunfighter, or the Magpul K2

troy irons still work but are dated. some time ago, they changed their clamp style to what they call "universal nato spec". they claim its to fit on a wider variation of rails but it seems like its just easier to make. as a result, they dont fit as snugly as the old clamp, leaving a lot of gap in some circumstances. sometimes they even sit off center on the rail, troy claims its ok.
pic related, old vs new.
troy used to be the go to for sights and rails but theyve been surpassed by competitors long ago.
and of course, thats not including any of the bad PR theyve had either.

they rebrand their sights for other companies. pic related, larue and noveske troy sights.
as far as being surpassed, the sights are one example, not only did they not update their deisgn, they made them worse with the crappy fit nato spec.
as far as their rails, the trx and vtac used to be popular. if you wanted a modular rail, troy was the first go to. but everyone makes a rail these days, and for the price of a troy, no one is picking troy.
their magazines are flimsy and crappy. theyre usually on sale for $8 each, some of the lowest priced ar mags out there and no one buys them.
they sell complete rifles for pretty cheap also, like $700 or 800 dollars. again, no one wants it.
their sights are probably their best sellers, and i already explained, they work but theyve gotten cheaper and crappier.

It'll work, but it'll work worse than a lot of other options. Consider Hardened Arms. I've had two of their uppers with around 1.5k round through them combined. No problems.

"What is it like to fire an AR-15? It’s horrifying, menacing and very very loud.

It felt to me like a bazooka — and sounded like a cannon.

But mostly, I was just terrified.

Squeeze lightly on the trigger and the resulting explosion of firepower is humbling and deafening (even with ear protection).

The recoil bruised my shoulder, which can happen if you don't know what you're doing. The brass shell casings disoriented me as they flew past my face. The smell of sulfur and destruction made me sick. The explosions — loud like a bomb — gave me a temporary form of PTSD. For at least an hour after firing the gun just a few times, I was anxious and irritable."

The poorman's favorite is certainly the Strike Industries Jcomp. It is a comp/flash hider with decent performance, a cheap price tag, and the tubular look will work well with your rail and barrel profile.

Flash hider for sure then. If you're doing an actual DMR with an 18-20" barrel of correct profile, plus a larger heavier stock, you'll have plenty of weight for a soft shooting rifle.

The JP Enterprises flash hider is the best out there. The YHM Phantom is pretty good and cheaper too.

$175 back in January and its every bit as good as a SF. They also use SF mounts, so google your fave Scout mount and have at it.

I'd have to agree that BCM is more cost effective, but in prebuilt I'm not sure that they are "better" than DD
to me BCM has more up to date stuff and can deliver in what the individual wants dept but other than that I see no real advantage over DD
if you like DD id say that they are equal in terms of quality, if not slightly in favor of DD
>>
So what happens when you stop getting (you)s and everyone ignores you like Cg

Will you fuck off and die then?

>>31867443
not even a bcm shill can say bcm rails are equal to dd.

ive done it with shitty milspec triggers before. It does help and you have to do that a bit to "break" it in. Either buy a good milspec trigger or splurge on a good trigger

Too late now. Besides, they're cheap and offer flash suppression to I'll try it.

for what its worth the dudes at Battleground Vegas love the DD guns because of how well they hold up to FA fire all the damn time. They have a really neat thread on arfcum detailing about what round count shit tends to fail and whatnot.

laksupply.com

They don't charge anything extra to convert mags to rebuild kits, shipping is flat rate, shipping for my 4mags was $10.. They are doing some website updating so their feature that automatically orders them as rebuild kits isnt working, if you add it to the cart it will say "blah blah cant be shipped to your region" but just send an email to Lance ([email protected]) saying what you want and he'll make an invoice and send a secure link to pay. I've ordered from them a couple times and have been very happy, Lance is a good guy and helpful if you have questions. plus they are in wyo so shipping only takes a couple days.

The only reason people think DD is better is that they won't tell anyone who their OEM suppliers are. If they said they got their small parts from CMMG most of their brand appeal and mystique would evaporate.
>>
I'm just a poor lad looking to build or buy an ar type rifle.

my budget is up to 500$
what's a good build or gun I can get that wont blow up in my face and shoots decent?
>>
>>31868242
but that hasn't happened?
it sounds to me like you just hate DD
as crap as their furniture is, they make good shit dude
>>31868261
You could buy a cheapo lower and get a PSA fn upper maybe, you might have to downgrade to freedom line (avoid ptac)
at your price range, you are very limited
>>
>>31868342
It's just nothing special beyond their marketing and distribution reach is all.
>>
>>31868362
just like how an FN rifle is nothing special compared to a PSA rifle
I'm just gonna stop you right here, DD is a good company and ur opinion is shit
>>
>>31868368
FN makes great barrels, that's really all they do exceptionally well in regards to ARs.
>>
>>31868622
we all know what you pay for when you buy an ar once you get into the 1000s range
it's fit and proprietary parts at that point, a PSA fn will run almost as well as my gun, I have no doubt about that, it's just not as nice of a machine
>>
>>31867550
