I was about to say that this is nigh-on perfect, but it's missing the fire-select switch in front of the trigger in the trigger guard. It's also a 71 round drum but that really doesn't matter. I hear they're finicky if loaded beyond about 60-65 rounds anyways.

Yet... I miss having him as a range buddy. We had an interesting friendship even though we were basically polar opposites in terms of firearm interest. He had false nunchucks to practice with, a false butterfly knife to practice with, I think some fake riot armour, some throwing knives but like the ones in that Naruto anime, and well, his room was always an absolute mess. Granted mine was never particularly great either, but never THAT bad!

An AKM with 6 spare mags... very reasonable loadout. Wouldn't that be around 18.2lb? Maybe 18.5lb tops? Not bad for 210 rounds in a diehard reliable assault rifle with better penetration than 5.56 or 5.45 while still being accurate to 300-400m at least. I mean, if an M1 Carbine can manage 270m (300yd), then an AKM can most certainly do better since it fires a heavier bullet that's going faster from the muzzle.

While I'm no expert on slav gear, if I recall AKMs have that pointed angle-cut muzzle and not a flat one. I think that's just a regular AK.

While those angled muzzle brakes are easily removable to my knowledge, and not ALL AKMs have them, I feel safe in saying that the VAST majority of them do, so that in the pic is more than likely an AK-47. I just automatically assume AKM unless I see those lightening cuts that identify milled receiver AK-47s. Fair enough. AK-47 and 6 spare mags would be quite a bit heavier though if they're the older AK-47 mags rather than the newer (and somehow improved?) AKM mags. Instead of around 1.65lb loaded, I think the older steel mags were more like 1.8lb loaded, if not 1.9. The AK-47 itself was of course heavier, at... I want to say... at least 9lb unloaded? So we're looking at around 22.5lb I think. Though if it's AKM mags (which is more than likely, even if that's an AK-47 which it very well MIGHT be), then the loadout would be essentially around 2lb heavier than the AKM with AKM mags. 20.2-20.5lb perhaps.

True that. I just dropped by because I seen the pic of AK girl with what I assumed was 6 mags, and commented that I thought it a very sensible loadout. Ought to duck out of this thread because I've got nothing remotely artistic to give in terms of drawings; my stickmen look fat.

As for optics, I'm not really a fan. I prefer irons. In my opinion (and I repeat, my OPINION, it's fine if yours differs) red dots are useless and only serve to add more weight/bulk to your firearm, even if it's only a small amount. If you're going to have an optic, it may as well have some magnification. As for how much, it seems to me that 2 or 2.5x is a nice amount for a bit of enhanced visibility for targets at close range (close being SMG distances; 100-200m, but won't really obstruct use in closer ranges). For more mid-range stuff (300-500m or so) it seems to me that 3.5 to 5x is quite good, but now you're approaching magnification that very much makes close range stuff more difficult. Always best to have irons available in my opinion, no matter what the firearm. A rifle without irons is not a rifle I want. For long range stuff, 6x or more, but I find that to be utterly unusable within more realistic distances. Personally, I wouldn't go higher than 4x. What type of scope? I don't much care. A range-finder thing like on the SVD-63's optic... what was it called... can't remember, but that's a cool thing to have. You know, that little scale for a standing man. I'm not particular though.

It's not exactly the same stock, but it contributes to making the thing less bulky and letting you cheekweld comfortably, unlike skeleton stocks like the one from the M249 Para. From what I assume.

It's not actually the M4 buttstock, but it is based on the M4 buttstock. It lets you collapse it for storage like the twisting para stock does, but also lets you adjust the length of pull. The full SAW buttstock has LOP about the same as the M16, so as you may be able to imagine, that shit gets unwieldy firing from anything but the prone.
