As for my own opinion on Skallagrim, I think he's pretty cool. I don't agree with all his stances, especially the myth that vegetarians have just as good a diet as meat eaters because of vegetarian foods that mimic meat. That's bullshit yet it seems to be something he believes in. When it comes to melee 'weapons', if swords and such can even be called that anymore in this day and age, he's my go-to guy on Youtube. Not that I have much interest at all in swords, but I find his videos informative and entertaining. The pommel-throwing and 'end him rightly' bits are funny.
I'm glad he seems to have recovered well after getting hit by a vehicle; was hospitalized for a while. It was not long after that accident that I stopped watching him for some reason. I also find his shooting vids to be not bad. Nothing special, but still decently entertaining. That muzzle loading pistol he has with the fixed ramrod is pretty sweet. He also simulated a few 'duels' as I recall. You know, the old school 18th-early-19th century duels where there's one shot each.

Well just a couple years ago, maybe 4 at most I figure, Mag30th took a PU M91/30 to... I think it was 1000yd (900m). The only alteration I remember is that he removed the top handguard and MIGHT have bedded/floated the stock. Used custom loaded ammo. So I would say that if it came down to it a GOOD quality Mosin (quality varies of course due to the wartime conditions of the time as well as the lacking skill of the workers) could effectively be used in the same manner as just about any other modern bolt action rifle typically referred to as a 'sniper rifle'.

There's the link; 1000yd with PU M91/30. Granted it was longer ago that I recalled, and he made more modifications (both glass bedded and floated the barrel as well as remove the iron sights and top handguard), but he's still getting hits at 1000yd with a 1942 M91/30. Video is from 2009, so 7 years ago, not 4.

I'd take what he says with a grain of salt, but he does try his best to give accurate information. Will give examples from old manuals, his own training, as well as getting info from some of the top HEMA instructors in the world(he might be autistic, you can tell he has a lot of friends).

Made an AMAZING series of vids that went into detail about the katana and why it has many flaws and is nowhere NEAR as good as what the fanboys think. Much of that even came out of Germany when ruled by the Nazis; first prototypes of jets, they were studying nukes I think before the end, probably had the best tanks of the war... but they also did the Holocaust. It is a shameful part of our heritage, a part that I will not forget, and I know of at least a few ancestors I had that were around back then. There's quite a big difference between the early 19th century and the mid 20th century however; the further back you go, the more that racism was basically 'normal'. Back then, the US still had slavery, however even though racism was still rampant in the 1930s/40s, it wasn't to the point where killing millions of people because of who they are or their beliefs was acceptable.
I guess I AM making a double standard of it; "Beothuk annihilation wasn't as bad because it was longer ago, Holocaust is worse because it was more recent even though they didn't actually exterminate all the Jews." It's inarguable however that more people know about the Holocaust than that the Beothuk peoples were wiped out. When someone hears Newfie, either they don't know what it is, or they just think of the funny-speaking people from that little island on the East Coast of Canada. When someone hears German... you see what I'm getting at. Often times, the first thing that comes to mind is WWII. John Cleese even made fun of it in his 1975 show Fawlty Towers. An episode where Germans come over? "Don't mention the war!" It was 30 years after the war had ended; John Cleese was likely too young to remember anything about WWII, yet still, when the issue of Germans came up, they IMMEDIATELY thought of WWII. I imagine this is why so much shame comes of it; EVERYONE knows about it, even today, and I'm certain future generations will still be surrounded by films/games/documentaries about German attrocities of WWII.
