My bad vbied was on the 1070, but they are assaulting the 3000 block as well. They still haven't taken the air defense base up north.

The southern front got off their ass and this attacking and JAI lost tel kurdi in ghouta.

Quick hits than I am calling it a day.
-Major victory for the SAA at Tel Kurdi as JAI withdrew under pressure. Map included.

-Battle near Darra for a abandoned air defense battalion has been ongoing all day as rebels are attacking SAA forces there. SAA still holds it

-Pro SAA forces took control of the infantry school northern Aleppo as IS continues their slow retreat out of Aleppo.

-Breaking the siege fighting has slowed down as TIP is still fighting for the last parts of 1070. SAA/Shia militias still hold most of 3000 and Assad military school. Jaf also continues to target SAA convoys on Khansaer road hitting another one today.

Video is a Qasioun reporter driving into Al Assad suburb. I remember the curve in the road where 3 Jihadist "combat cyclists" drove through.

They should cut south through Hawsh Dawriha and try sealing the pocket.
Or they should cotinue and take Rayhan like they had before. Rayhan is probably in a weakened state right now.

What do you think?
And where do you think the SAA will go?

The Rebels simply don't have the ability to make operational moves anymore. It's just defend till they surrender for now.

The whole deal with Kuznetsov is absolutely ridiculous. The Soviet Navy was almost completely defensive in nature, they did have a few amphibious assault ships but they would never see serious use. Most of their navy vessels are still Cold War relics apart from a handful of modern vessels, which makes this show of force pretty ridiculous. The fact that Kuznetsov is actually leaving the North Atlantic is bizarre seeing as how its not really a carrier in the traditional sense but rather a CG capable of deploying fighters to cover it while it would coordinate with ground based naval aviation to attack enemy ships with its own cruise missiles. Yet now its being used for ground attack and counter insurgency in Syria.

They only took it out for posturing, Kuznetsov's aircraft are "multi-role" fighters (ccrp capable) that are inferior to the ground based aviation units that are already in use there. Kunzetsov was always a mess and taking it out of the area it was built to operate in has both made it more difficult to use and more or less shows that it was mostly political pressure that has placed it in the Mediterranean. Its a sad show of force that would've been more effective had Kuznetsov stayed home.

If it were Iraq, Iran, Jordan, Syria, turkey, Saudi Arabia, The rest of the gulf states, Israel and Egypt, it would be a lot different. Though that wouldn't happen with out the rest of the world having to get Involved.

Well, looks like the government reinforced west Aleppo correctly this time, and the rebels have already lost steam, with the SAA regaining ground today.
Seems like the retreat from Al-Assad was strategical, as having troops there would mean that the rebels would be able to hit them from two fronts. Although retaking the place will be hard.

While some of these aircraft do have potential use in Syria, like the gunships and the MiGs, it still is absurd that the Kuznetsov has traveled so far just so that it could use 3 MiGs and 4 Ka-52s.

The ground based aviation in use by the Russian Air-force consists of Su-24s, Su-34s, and Su-25s. When it comes to larger aircraft the Tu-22 has seen extensive use. The Kuznetsov really doesn't bring much else to the table except exorbitant maintenance costs.

typically one would finish maintenance and make sure it can work before sending something out on deployment

if you want practice, exercises are far better
>>
why are there so many go pros everywhere?

are they in the UN aid deliveries or something?
>>
>>31852760
It's fine if they're there to provide air cover, but using them on bombing runs is silly. To my knowledge they don't even have targeting pods, so they're simply far less effective in this role than Su-34s (to be fair i'm assuming the Su-34 has a targeting pod, but since the Su-24M has one I can't imagine the 34 doesn't).
>>
>>31852773

>if you want practice, exercises are far better

>exercises
>better than the real thing

Nope.
>>
>>31852709
>t sending shit out for practice

The issue is that Kuznetsov isn't like most carriers in that it was designed to take part in action around the world. It was designed to engage vessels in the North Atlantic alongside backfires and other vessels, its aircraft are really a defensive measure. Sending the Admiral to Syria isn't going to get them kind of experience they need.

>>31852773 makes a good point as an exercise in the North Atlantic would net far more useful experience in operating the carrier.
>>
>>31852813

Whatever it was designed for - that's not its role anymore, since the things it was supposed to work with in tandem are long gone. Also, they removed the P-800s from it iirc, so referring to its original role is moot.
>>
>>31852829
>Also, they removed the P-800s from it iirc

The issue is that the "real thing" isn't even something the carrier was designed for, or is even equipped to do well at the moment.

>>31852797 Thats true, but I can think of a lot better ways of finding escorts.

>>31852829
Well the missile tubes are still there. That and it really isn't a ship that will be able to adapt to another role very well, there's a reason the Soviets were the only people to build aviation cruisers. Kuznetsov's flight group has very limited offensive capability, that and the ships infamously poor reliability record hampers it further. If anything it would work best as part of an ASW group.

Maybe they want to get combat experience and address deficiencies that show up as well as the projection of force, which sort of worked the way the British got their panties in a knot.

Functionally speaking, yes it makes not much sense to send that group over there when the assets that are already there can do the job.

Or maybe it's backup in anticipation of something larger.

I think that sentence structure got a bit messed up, but I think I get what you meant. It's not a knock against Russian planes, when you're looking at availability rates, getting above 70% availability with fighters is amazing in any nation's air force. If they only have one of those aircraft alot of the time they won't actually have it available, especially if they're flying it hard since it's their only one and having to put alot of maintenance time into it after every sortie to keep it going.

Thanks friend, Would you mind answering a few more questions about joining up? Like running cost, what to bring, cultural things to be aware of? If I do end up going over I'd like to be as less of a liability as I can, as well as respectful to the Kurds themselves. I'm just worried because of my age and zero military experience just making me a massive liability.

My cost was 2200 Canadian Dollars for a plane ticket and then a few odds and ends when I was actually there. Bring clothes, a good backpack, and good old 'Murican green, You never know what kind of stuff the money will be needed for. As for cultural things: even if you're full on "Gas the Kikes race war now" level Nazi, shut up and don't shit talk their ideology. Be polite, eat your food even if you hate it. Try and learn every bit of their language that you can. Point to things and say "Ev chiya?" basically asking "What's that?" Use it as much as you can. Tea is a big socializing thing, even if you don't like it just dump sugar into it and have a nice mug of "chat with people who you can't speak to". I knew plenty of people with little to no experience that did well just by learning as much as they could.

Only because they are suicidal and nobody is using suicidal people except jihadis.
That's why they're successful, they turned themselves into extra ammunition.

What would happen if somehow Japan convinced suicidal ronery nippon hikkikomoris to become the next glorious samurai kamikaze ? Like give them a katana and a last night with a patriotic geisha telling them she will always remember them and they have to be brave for glorious nippon yada yada.

Now you have PER YEAR at least 35000 suicide bombers driving any kind of VBIED you can think of. And they're fucking japanese. They can be the fucking worst. Like they would turn these isis fags into waifus or shit.
That's one hundred big ass explosions from a VBIED PER DAY.

kebabs status : buttblasted.

Just think about it. These arab suicide bombers just kill themselves. How many people in the west kill themselves every year ?
Tell these people "hey wanna get revenge on the shitskins who made your life so shit ?" and boom you have a 1000 times the "vbied force" isis has for a penny and two cents.

You can even fit some ACTUALLY RELEVANT kind of explosive ordnance on their vehicles as well as actual armor. Because we're the fucking west and not some goatfuckers.

The first offensive was also stalled, once it reached Apartment 1070 and the Arty College. I think it was the second day and since then we had 5 days of non-stop Assad fags telling us how they resecured 1070 and how the offensive had failed; until the rebels stormed the Arty College on day 6 and Ramousah on day 7, opening the siege.

That said, I also have the feeling that the rebel offensive has lost steam abit too soon and there is a high possibility that it could be reversed soon.
Still, as long as the rebels held their frontlines it would have been a success (i never bought into this being an offensive to break the siege, its too densely populated to break through in one go. But I have a feeling, that the rebels wanted to push the frontline into 3000 Apartement for a future follow-up offensive to break again into Ramouseh and open the siege. right now al-assad neighborhood is too little for one future push into Eastern Aleppo being possible, but still a good starting point)

Also, the Mosul Campaign made large steps this weekend after kinda stalling the last week.

The iraqi army has reached the southeastern corner of the city of Mosul; the Kurds in the east are doing their thing but slower (which made it funny, how MSM keeps reporting with a very kurdish-centric pov about their 'lightning advances' and 'huge battlefield victories' when they are the least successfull of the three involved forces right now. which of course doesnt say much, because they do it the proper way and dont intend to lose the clay again)
The PMU (shia militias) who have joined this weekend, took a large number of villages in their northern offensive, where ISIS keeps retreating to Tal Afar.

There is also the continuing or even escalating tension with Turkey, with the Sultan saying that the shias are on their way to genocide the poor turkmen population of Tal Afar and maybe, just maybe the turkish army might move in to prevent sectarian massacres in that rightfully turkish town.

Quick hits again
-Rebels took heavy casualties(between 26 to 40) attacking the abandon air defence battlion. Southern fornt fail again although I think some non southern front were involved. Pic is dead.

-Breaking the siege fighting continues to be slow as the lines are about the same. TIP has a video from 1070. Their VBIED blew up whatever was left of the SAA militias there. VBIED Video below. Also a good drone overview of 1070 and 3000 terrain. Second video is ANNA of the Assad military school.

ANNA with the SAA side of the battles.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PQE9XAZT3Yg

-eastern Ghouta lines still the same since the SAA took Tel Kurdi. JAI in trouble. They only have a finite amount of fighting left however still hold core areas like Doma.
>>
>>31861249
That was yesterday, 5 star.

Regarding Ghouta, the SAA should focus on Rayhan to isolate Douma and then shrink the pocket from the east, leaving only Douma and the southwestern parts of it. No farms, no food, no opposition.
>>
>>31861272
I know it was yesterday. I follow up on what I was looking at before. If you have lel super current now information than post it. The only current fighting in Aleppo is some rebel shelling on 3000 apt projects but I didn't think it is a big enough deal to mention it.

>>
>>31861318
Exactly.
What do you think about the rebels losing steam with this offensive?
Do you think they'll pull a surprise move like they did in the colleges and throw >800 guys at once against a single point in western Aleppo to try and break the siege, or at least capture and hold strategical areas like tghe academy? Or do you think it's already over?
>>
>>31861331
We are on day 4 right? The SAA took all of Handarat and Owji before stalling out and you didn't hear me saying that their offensive had failed. They could have taken pocket giving them more time. There is still a lot of fighting left for all sides. As long as rebels have their footholds like Al Assad/1070 anything could happen. Two wildcards are the Ruaf and the rebels inside the pocket attacking outward.
>>
>>31860619

Trudeau, but he'd take money out of the airforce, army, RCMP, and from the navy ;)

Some updates from the battle of Mosul
ISOF (Iraqi special forces) have supposedly entered the Mosul suburb of Karama. It is only speculation but it is not improbable considering that Iraqi security forces have made major gains to the west of the city (which is where the suburb is located in). The golden division is just 7km's away from the city center as of recently.

This comes as Kurdish fighters have captured several strategic hills as well as villages from the Turkish backed rebels in Northern Aleppo. With their current gains, the Kurds are able to threaten the Turkish/Syrian border crossing
>>
>>31863102
If our nation's government didn't keep beating our military with a budgetary stick since the 70's, we'd have both the infrastructure & manpower to field them.

I know the thread is dead but i'm not posting to bump. There was serious fighting between the SDF and Turkish backed FSA near Mare tonight again. Early result is the FSA repelled the attack but that is from pro rebel sources.

I think IS giving the infantry school to pro SAA SDF was a clear sign IS is playing both against each other, not that they wouldn't fight each other anyway but IS is throwing fuel on the fire plus the SAA/Ruskies DO NOT want Turkish backed FSA getting near them. This is like a soap opera of alliances.

>>

I mean, that is ISIS's best hope right now. Get all the other factions to kill each other then come back stronger in a few years with funding and support from its various international affiliates.
As long as it can hold Raqqa I'd imagine that is their strategy. At least, its what I'd be going for.
>>
>>31867597

Problem with that is that everyone will see an opportunity to rub them off the map if they see them go to the defensive. Having them gone benefits Rebels and Anti-Assad forces the most, they have the strength to take them now and will likely do. Its territory they are going to need if the SAA keeps the pressure.
>>
>>31867131
It's hard to predict ISIS. They are the least transparent of all the factions.

Are they religious fanatics trying to fulfill a prophecy on the plains of dabiq?

Or ruthless militants simply hellbent on power and acquiring sex slaves?

Question: Why is it called the Syrian Arab Army and not just the Syrian Army?
>>
>>31869913
Because of Baath politics and arab/syrian independence.

Basically to show that they are an army free of western/french influence.

Looks like it stalled, yeah.

I was surprised the amount of armour they were able to muster. I remember with the previous Aleppo pocked piercing all the armour the rebels had lost and I pictured that being all their armour gone. But nope not really, seem unimpeded, keep seeing BMPs and tanks.

>>31870039
Eh, I wouldn't say that yet. I'd wager they're just getting their logistics in order before continuing.

it's a cruiser that can carry aircraft, as opposed to a carrier in the western sense of the word. Our carriers don't have much in the way of offense outside their aircraft, whereas the russians approach was to make a missile cruiser with a runway on it

It mostly because of the United Arab Republic. After the fail of the united republic, mainly because of Nasser fuckery, with Syria unresting and leaving it in 1961. Even so, the arab nacionalism sentiment was still strong in the country. So, in a symbolic gest to appease the arab nacionalists, the new goverment changed its name to "Syrian Arab Republic", and the name sticked with the following goverments that assumed after new coups, the first Ba'athist gov, and then, Assad senior gov.

So, for being the army of the "Syrian Arab Republic" thats why they are called the "Syrian Arab Army".

You act like this is some sort of accomplishment seeing as how no one else besides China or the US gives a fuck about their navies. Russia deploys ocean going tugs with their single aircraft carrier anticipating a breakdown and its deployment came 1 month late because of their lack of carrier qual'd pilots.

Russia still a shit.

>(refugees)They agree that the bombing and shelling of eastern Aleppo was terrifying but they also say that the Jabhat al-Nusra – the thousands of al-Qaeda followers who have twice changed their name in a vain attempt to shake off the West’s claim that they are ‘terrorists’ — are the least offensive, perhaps even the kinder, of the armed groups which still hold their sector of the city.

Lol when JFS are the friendly guys. Kind of makes sense, they are the "professionals", other rebel groups can simply be thugs.

ISIS are the dumbest mother fuckers in the history of the planet.

Hurr we have all this territory in Syria and Iraq and captured firepower, lets go start wars with all of our neighbors via terrorist attacks and piss off the entire world so we get half our entire military annihilated from the air and lose most of our territory in the home country.

Should have been good little CIA cuck shits who pretended they were "moderates" like Al Nusra and friends. And toned down the edginess.

>-BREAKING NEWS Putin orders 10-hour humanitarian pause in Aleppo on Nov. 4 – Russian military

President Vladimir Putin has ordered a humanitarian pause in Aleppo from 9am to 7pm on November 4, the Russian General Staff has reported, while urging the armed groups to stop fighting in Aleppo and leave the city with their arms via two corridors.

General Valery Gerasimov, the chief of the Russian General Staff, said the militants failed to break through the blockade around the city last week and accept Russia’s proposal to leave eastern Aleppo through two specially designated corridors, while reiterating that they would be allowed to keep arms.

“Considering that our American colleagues were unable to separate the opposition from terrorists, we are addressing all militant leaders directly, urging them to cease hostilities and leave Aleppo with their arms,” he said. “Two corridors will be opened, from which Syrian troops and weapons would be pulled back.”

During Friday’s pause, six additional corridors will be opened for civilians wishing to leave the city, the general said.

I mean, if they stuck to Syria maybe, but the humiliating fall of Mosul made it clear that Iraq needed immediate military support. Once they started taking shit from an American ally they might as well have gone balls deep and made the drive on Baghdad that was disturbingly possible at the time.
