How reliable are the ranging notches in scopes?
>>
Pretty reliable
>>
I've never had a notch jam on me.

>>
Pretty damn good. I know primary arms ACSS gets a lot of praise for its range finder built into the reticle.
>>
>>31843139
Depends if you mounted it properly

There are versions of posp's that mount on picatiny/weaver rails

If someone is exactly the size that the reticle is calibrated for, good.
Laser rangefinders are a thing, they work, and they aren't that expensive
>>
>>31844790
Your cheap?
>>
>>31843139
The scope in your pic has a rangefinder beside the reticle anyway, just use that.
>>
>>31844832
What about his cheap?

sweet, might have to consider. wonder if they have something in a 1-4x that'll work with 556.

>>31846204
now you've done it.
>>
>>31846204
it's like this is your first time on our Polynesian taxidermy message boards.
>>
>>31844594
>>31844790
unless the scope is designed around 5.56/308 it'll probably be a little off from where your impact is

the rangefinder on the left is universal ofcourse, the drop calculation chevrons are for specific rounds from standard length barrels tho
>>
>>31846632
Yeah, that's why I never put one on my AR-15, but I'd assume you could adjust the zeroing for the top chevron proper then just kentucky it with the drop chevs.
>>
>>31844823
and they weren't a thing that the soviets could afford.
>>
>>31843139
Quite... but, you need to know the height or length of an object to get your range estimation close. A mans height is assumed two meters.

If the top of his head is under the 2 and the bottom of his feet are on the line..... 200 meters.
>>
>>31847201
>assumed 2 meters
uh no the PSO series has them at like 1.7 meters.
>>
>>31847219
Well, the Russians I met in Kosovo were a bunch of circus midgets...

Probably better in that case.
>>
Any good scope with a built in rangefinder will note what it is optimized for, if your rifle comes close, the rangefinder should work properly.
>>
>>31844823
that seems like a retardedly over built bipod

>on Chinese Cartoon/Mongolian Slideshow/Indonesian Woodcarving board/Polynesian Taxidermy board

jesus christ anon how stupid are you
>>
>>31843139

In this case? Reliable, if you're using the 7n1 load in an SVD and shooting past 1000m, because that's what they're for.
The PSO elevation turret maxes out at 1000m and then you use the three chevrons for 1100, 1200 and 1300m.

If you slap the PSO / POSP on something else, or use different ammo, it's not useable this way, and your best bet would be to simply use them as a BDC reticle of sorts after verifying the distance each chevron meets the POI at.
>>
>>31844823
>Laser rangefinders are a thing, they work, and they aren't that expensive
They dont display inside the scope tho
>>
>>31843139
Depends on the scope- night vision, scmidt and bender, vortex, or some other high quality scope, a reliable as you can get. Low end, sabre, Redfield, bushnell... yeah wouldn't put a lot of faith in it
>>
>>31843139
>>31850026
Also is the scope isn't zero'd properly, you can have the best scope in the world and it will still be shit.
>>
>>31843139
>>31843146

Disclamer: Notches work with the ammunition that was to work with them.
You can't just have a 7.62x54r PSO-1 work on a 5.56x45 or other equivalent of flat trajectory and expect the sight notches to be completely accurate.
>>
>>31850030
If the scope is zeroed properly, and you don't know your holdovers/turret settings, you still won't hit jacques merde.

Where do all these newfags come from, /k/? I figured all the normies would stay away since we've been in the news and support an unpopular candidate. Yet they still come by the boatload everyday. They find our boards and start posting, knowing nothing about our culture or rules.
>>
>>31846632
That's why you get the po3.5 optic for 5.45, about the same drop as 5.56
>>
>>31851918
anyone sell a waver/pic version?

Asked this in /ARG/, didn't get an answer. I'm building an AR in 5.56 that the range of shooting will be between 30 and roughly 600 yards. General use is coyotes and hogs. Unless someone has a better suggestion for the cash, I'm thinking the 1-6 or 1-8 ACSS.
