Ordered my new reloading stuff. I know I can get away with hand cleaning and using a primer pocket cleaner, but the less prep work I have to do the better. I can get an L&L sonic cleaner for about the same cost as a rbsc or equivalent. Pic unrelated
quality thread OP
I dump my brass in a old water tight water tight tupperware bowl with the old NRA mix for 20 minutes.
You don't have to spend a ton on this.

Um. Yes? What's your question here?

Sorry, I was on break and rushed this. What are the benefits for each? Common problems. What do you guys prefer? The Lyman book didn't really cover tumbling.

I actually use both, i got a small rotary tumbler in the beginning but i am really picky with my brass so i was leaving it in overnight or longer most of the time. I found an off brand ultrasonic cleaner on amazon that works just as well as anything so i bought that. Now i put my brass in the ultrasonic cleaner for about an hour and put it in the tumbler immediately afterwards while the brass is still hot, I'll tumble it for an hour or so and it's usually back to new condition after that. The supersonic cleaner works really well for getting the bigger shit inside the casing and primer pockets, the tumbler works best at polishing.

Are you able to leave it in sonic over night?

I suppose you could, but most have a timer and it really isn't necessary for any longer than an hour, if it won't come off in an hour in an ultrasonic cleaner then the ultrasonic will probably never get it off. I always put mine on the highest heat for an hour and you would be pretty amazed at how much shit actually comes off

>NRA mix
For anyone interested in what Mr descriptive is talking about here is the recipe for NRA mix
1/4 cup vinegar
1 Tbsp salt
1/8 oz.(up to 1/4cup) dish liquid(somone specified which brands to be avoided)
1/2 gallon water
+-> you don't need to rinse for 20 minutes either.
Immerse & agitate brass 3-4 minutes
Dump mixture when done, rinse in clean water
I would make sure the primer pockets are clean of debris so they sit properl
People go crazy cleaning their brass when it just weakens it faster. The real question is does anyone anneal their brass after a few reloads cause that extends the life time a lot.
