Looking to purchase my first gun, my price range is in the 400-800 range and I want a cheap, reliable, and aesthetically pleasing rifle. Any suggestions /k/?

>hurr I want a gun that does it all and satisfies my subjective tastes all for super cheap.

Unless you happen to like the look of ARs, you're out of luck.

Smith & Wesson M&P15

If you're new to rifles, or guns in general. Don't buy anything made by I.O (Inter Ordnance), or Century Arms, just don't do that to yourself.
>>
>>31828285
Get a Mosin-Nagant.

Don't listen to the Mosin-Nagant autists.

Get an entry level AR (S&W M&P15, 10x 30 round mags, and ammo.

He said aesthetically pleasing. That rules out any AR.

OP, get a Yugo NPAP, they still can be had for $600 or less and are reliable

As much as i dont usually like the look of an ar15, this is just sexy.

Op, it would help if we knew what you expected out of the rifle, asthetics is great but what you like and what you want to do with it will have a lot of impact on the suggestions you will get.
I deer hunt, reload cast bullets and shoot beer cans on weekends. A leveraction in 3030 or a pistol caliber such as 44mag or 45lc works just fine for these applications and is about as pleasing to the eye as a gun will ever be. But thats just me, your tastes may be different and more input from you is required.
>>
No one needs a killing weapon. Just buy a good pair of sneakers Op.

Nugget or mauser. You can get either for ~200 online, and most of the time cheaper locally. Spend the rest of the money of nugget food.

/k/ has become a cesspool of """"""tactical"""""" shit. Ignore ar fags and get a real gun that will outlive all of us.

Ruger makes some good stuff, but as of lately from the 10/22s I've been seeing in the store I work in they're slipping in QC.

Other than that it's a decent gun, but if you plan on customizing it into a "tactical operator gun" there are a few proprietary parts. They're not a huge issue though. It's made out of the industry standard aluminum, and it's got a pretty good CHF 1/8 twist barrel on it.

I'd get it over the M&P if it can be found cheaper.
>>
>>31832727
I second this, my first gun was the RAS47 magpul and it honestly isn't that bad, I expected worse from all the shit talk but it's more accurate than any other AR i've shot

M91/30 with a fuckload of milsurp ammo

SKS-45 with slightly less of a fuckload of milsurp ammo

Sporterized WWI or WWII rifle with ammo

Whether any of those are aesthetically pleasing are up to you, but they're cheap and would allow you to get a good amount of ammo with them. If the rifle you find has a cartridge that doesn't have milsurp available, then invest some of that money in the following...

>A book on reloading ammo (get this first to learn more)
>Lee Hand Press
>Powder scale (Lyman 500 is pretty cheap)
>Die set of the necessary cartridge
>Reprimer die if the set doesn't come with one
>Appropriate bullet of the weight you want
>Appropriate primer
>Appropriate type of powder
>Then for casings either buy the casings themselves, or buy boxer primed ammo for the rifle that you can reload after firing

That's a cheap way to get yourself a starting setup for reloading, and if you find that you want more ammo, then invest the money for an actual press. The hand press is just something cheap to get you started. It's slow, a bit time consuming, physically exhaustive if you're physically weak, but it will get you cheap ammo and that's the goal here. Better to spend 50 cents or less per cartridge instead of 1-2 dollars per cartridge.
>>
>>31829910
That can NOT be a thing.

Can it?
>>
>>31833726
There's truck nuts, there's a kickstarter for a pair of nuts you can attach to the underside of a desk to either squeeze to relax stress or 'fondle' to relax stress (whichever suits your fancy), so honestly, I'm not surprised that this is a thing as well.
