I picked up 3 AR lowers while they were cheap (the prices are already up a little bit) and two nicer uppers. I will be picking up the last upper this weekend, if I can find one for a good deal. Stock is still ample at most places.

Just Built an AR Pistol and another stripped lower that just shipped to my FFL for another rifle.

Also going to go in on some ammo with a guy at work. Probably another 500rds of 9mm and 500rds of .223

Since the primaries have started I've bought two SCAR's, a benelli M4, another G19, several lowers, an AR pistol, an SLR104, and an AUG. And a few thousands rounds of 556 and 308, and a decent stockpile of mags.

In other news, I picked the worst time to get into an AR...I payed 800 after taxes and fees on this bastard(10% sales tax in my state), It will be paid off the last week in december...Maybe sooner.

Hey, if it makes you happy, run with it, it's only money you'd probably have spent on ammo anyways. I'm just surprised it was that expensive and that someone would actually buy it. I can get 5.45 online all day, but it's not exactly a common caliber found in brick and mortar places. Academy carries rebranded Brown Bear, but they only carry maybe a few cases at at time. It's definitely a less common cartridge than everything else I shoot with maybe the exception of .30 Carbine.

Buy a lower now. Just get the cheapest one you can find. All milspec lowers are the same thing barring unimportant differences in finish quality, which don't matter since they're made of aluminum anyway. Check palmetto state armory, you can buy a complete lower for under $200, their blem (blemished) ones work fine too but may have some small flaws that are purely cosmetic and totally unimportant.

I would think buying a gun is a higher priority than buying ammo. You can sit on a gun for awhile without ammo, you can learn how to do reloading. Ammo can -somewhat- scale back in price hype but guns do not. You used to be able to get an AK for around 400-500 back in 2010-2012 pre Hook. Now that is never going to come back unless Trump wins office and even then I'm skeptical.

But you can wait on ammo to go back down or you can learn to reload. You can't without a lot of tools (excluding the AR) build a gun and even used they will be panic price.

Not a panic purchase, but I picked up a Marlin 336w in 30-30 Win yesterday at a pawn shop for $325 OTD. Wood was a little worn, but she functions flawlessly.

New "Marlins" don't have the "JM" stamp, they have the "Remington" stamp. The ones with the "JM" stamp are more sought after due to Remingtons quality control issues.

into my hands it was 414$, $375 off of gunbroker, got it off cdisales, would recommend dealing with him. Cdisales charges $25 flat for shipping, they have hi powers that range from 350 with shit finish up to 450+ with excellent. I got a mid range one and what looks like a brand new barrel, so Im happy. Ive heard he tends to rate them one grade lower than they actually are and mine isnt an exception to that.

Gun has Tight lockup, very little rattle, close to new if not new barrel, cosmetic scuffs and a tight mag well that was fixed with some polishing on the interior surface. came without grip crews and mis matched grips. other than that, no complaints so far. Heres the other side.

The rubber does have a nice feel to it, though with my huge hands I can only get 1.5 fingers on the grip. A larger grip is only $20. So it's not that big of a deal.

First time AR build and I want too do a .308. Is this choice acceptable or should I just go with a complete stripped lower? (And what's a acceptable price for said stripped lower)
