It runs everything well except Speer G2's, that rubbery insert just drags against the feed ramp and occasionally malfunctions even after a polish job.

I've shot Hornady Critical Duty, Critical Defense, Speer Gold Dot, and a shit ton of different Federal HST's. I carry the 147 gr. +P but I'm really considering switching to standard pressure 124 gr. HST instead. The only ball ammo I've ever had issue with was some shitty Remington and it won't fucking feed in anything I've shot it in. I'll admit I shoot +P through it often enough, but I'll never go to 9BPLE, I'm too much of a pussy.

In a 4.9" barrel, Hornady Critical Duty 135 gr. Bullets are probably your best bet. The conical shape is going to be good for feeding, you get a pretty nice defensive cartridge, and reliable expansion and velocity from that length.

If you've got a 2 3/8" barrel, Critical Defense is an easy feeder if you don't want to polish the feed ramp.
