Personally, I think it depends on your behavior. If you silently stalk people, and behave like an autistic mouth breather, then you may get shot. But if you're gonna play the role, and bellow out greetings and/or warning of peril ahead, or what the fuck ever, then you might get away with it. But for safety of the kids, I'd go with a prop sword.
