I'm bored with the standard stuff.
PTR 32s and C93s always seemed really cool to me, but they're a bit pricy for a "just something different" rifle (especially considering you can get a pretty high quality AR or AK for the same $$).
If not affordable, just post yer non AKs/non ARs
>>31803637
Does my t97 count?
>>31803637
ARs and AKs are so boring.
I need to start collecting more bullpups.
>>31803637
In. Daewoo K2 a best. PTR 32 is great too.
>>31803637
Fuck, I'm tired and my extra chromosomes are showing.
To clarify, I'm looking for recommendations for affordable AR/AK alternatives.
>>31803654
That's fuckin cool.
I'm assuming it's something you cant get in the states.
>>31803667
But bullpens are objectively inferior
>>31803667
I cant seem to find a bullpup that doesnt have 1 or two attributes that bother the fuck out of me.
>>31803699
Very nice. Many thanks.
>>31803704
PTR 32 is a good choice for the non AK but shoots AK rounds gun. I have the same issue where I buy guns that aren't ARs or AKs as the market is saturated with them and it's boring seeing more AR and AK shit every shotshow. A Daewoo post ban can be had for around 1k and converted cheaply.
>>31803729
Not at all true. The triggers aren't even that bad.
>>31803730
That's because you have shit taste.
>>31803785
PTRs get me going for some reason.
I dunno though, I'd be dropping high end AK money on something that's logistically speaking a front heavy AK.
But god dammit they're cool...
>>31803637
even legit cz vz58s almost feel standard since vz2008s flooded the gun market, but nobody's posted one yet
>>31803937
i feel like a special snowflake with my VZ
>>31803667
I want one of dems so bad. Did you order it direct from steyr? I'm seriously thinking of doing that because all the ones I can find on armslist and in brick and mortar stores are used and set up in configurations I don't want for more than I can get the damn thing new.
>>31803937
>>31804058
VZs are definitely fuckin cool.
It just falls into the "costs the same as a nice AK but isnt as convenient" category.
They're definitely on my someday list though.
C93 is pretty fun gun.
>>31804129
Also a definite someday gun.
>>31804118
Since we're doin VZ's.
>>31804253
This yours? How solid the bonesteel rail? Like an ultimak?
>>31804286
Yeah it's mine. The rail works fine, but I had to file part of it down so it would fit. It's held zero and I take it off for cleaning every time I shoot it.
I have no experience with ultimak.
>>31803637
It's not an ar but it has ar tendencies
>>31803699
what do you do for a living that you can afford this stuff? or do you just not have any other hobbies?
>>31803637
I built a galil if that's different enough from an ak for you
>>31804740
Absolutely.
I dont know of many folks who've built Galils.
Was it a massive pain in the ass? That's pretty fucking sweet anon.
Legit csa vz58 coming through
>>31804439
> $165 fucking dollars for a rail
Thats more expensive than the legit csa side mount.
>>31804129
I have always been curious about the C93. Can some anon give me a few pointers about it?
>Trash?
>Expensive?
>Sturdiness?
>Trustworthy?
Fuck yeah special snowflake thread
>>31805063
>>31805061
They tend to go for 700$
Sturdiness wise is good beside the polymer lower but thats a personal thing.
I trust it and its been 100 reliable with steel case.
I dont like the mag prices tho. Also brass tends to get fucked up.
>>31803637
I'd post a hi point carbine but I'm confused about the thread topic.
>>31803699
Do you have a gen 1.5 or 2 PTR32? I got a 1.5 sadly, didnt realize the difference when I ordered it. Still great to shoot, just have to stick with pmags.
>>31805091
I just cant get passed the fact that your only support hand option is a vert grip.
>>31805160
Just non AR/AK stuff.
I had intermediate cartridges in mind, but go for it.
>>31805206
>intermediate cartridges
See? No no, its fine. I'm near novice with anything sold outside of the average big box gun shop.
I'm curious why PTR makes HK32 clones but not HK33 clones
A parts kit I commissioned to be built.
She blew my saiga ak103 clone out of the water when it came to felt recoil and double taps.
>>31805289
Because they use a 91 receiver for the PTR32, rather than a 33 receiver like HK did with the HK32. They don't have the stamping dies (YET) to make 33s.
>>31805367
I'd buy PTR33 so damn fast
i want to believe
>>31805410
If you're looking for a (probably) good hk93 and don't want to support t*rks and pay way too much on 922r parts, brethren arms recently put into production a "factory" hk93 that's listed on their website for $900. Though, their prices have been listed wrong before and I find it a little hard to believe because their hk94s are $2000.
>>31804955
Got the kit from apex for like 400 with some mags, and I kinda got lucky and found an orf receiver for 220 at knob creek because I'm 19
The barrel apex gave me needed the gas port drilled and I had to take metal off the barrel to put the gas block on far enough and had to drill notches for the gas block roll pins
Headspaceing was perfect when I tightened the barrel all the way
Threaded the holes for the mag catch and trigger guard and used screws instead of rivets
Used a tapco g2 trigger
The rest was just putting it together, fairly painless and probably around 700$ total but it's fun to shoot steel cased 556 and I like the sights
The only problem I'm having is with the mags because sometime it ejects but dosnt chamber even when I pull the charging handle back all the way
>>31805811
Orf receiver curse, you got good experience. You should consider buying a cnc warrior receiver and doing it right later. Probably fix your chambering issue.
>>31805061
You just gotta learn what to look for like any gun. They have their known issues. Check if the bolt is ground, buy a 5$ set of inserts to measure bolt gap. If it's good ta da you scored.
>>31805167
use bakes
>>31803729
>objectively
That's where youre wrong kiddo.
>>31803637
I still don't get why PTR didn't make a 5.56 gun first instead of a 7.62x39 one. Meh, we're getting the PTR93 anyway
>>31803785
PTR32's are very accurate for 7.62x39 - that said being a proprietary job they aren't as rock solid reliable as the PTR-91's
>>31804105
Ordered from Pete Athens. His website is super old looking, but he has great prices and more combinations of features than anyone else.
>>31805327
this is very nice
>>31807854
Never had my PTR 32 get a malfunction as of yet. The one problem is it won't accept drums and has trouble with metal AK mags. I use bakelites to fix this.
>>31804058
The legit ones still are snowflake feeling and a fair amount nicer all around. It almost feels like a different gun altogether when I shoot it next to my friend's vz2008. The real ones are just smooth as butter in the action and the pushpins for breakdown move easily. You just can tell things are put together 100% the way they should be, no slop.
>>31804118
>falls into the "costs the same as a nice AK but isnt as convenient" category.
I think it's more convenient than any of my aks.
It's just more comfortable to carry and use all around, stripper clips are easier to take with me, quickly engage the BHO and load mags, and I think it's easier to clean on top of that.
>>31804129
Yeah, it is pretty fun, but it's high maintenance.
>>31805130
Pretty much this, and mind the bolt gap.
Oh, and aftermarket is expensive.
>>31805036
Dude it's just the top rail it was like $65. You can clearly see that the lower handguard is bakelite, it's not the whole bonesteel handguard setup.
>>31803730
I know. They always have something small that just bugs me. The only one that doesn't is the FAMAS, and there's no way in hell I'll ever get my hands on one of those.
The FS2000 and AUG are both pretty good too, but in both cases they're rather expensive and difficult to find. Plus, they still have a few issues I'm not a fan of, like the FS2000's chamber being so hard to access, or the AUG not being designed to use STANAG mags. (Yes, I know NATO stocks exist, but they're rare as fuck.)
>>31809061
>Worrying about AUGs not taking NATO mags when AUG mags are like $25 and great.

>>31803637
Why are you buying a PTR when you can buy a CETME pretty cheap?
>>31809411
Because that's not chambered in 7.62x39?
>>31805063
You remember when instead if special snowflake they were just called "other options "?
>>31809411
Tell me more
>>31809673
It's Century; what could go wrong?
>>31809691
Is there a non century version? Round? I like that it doesn't look like a giant mp5.
>>31809494
No, actually
>>31806794
It was only with certain mags so I'll save my 380$ and fix it myself
>>31803704
You can always smuggle it through the Canadian-US border at one of the tourist traps.
>>31808382
Pmags work great as well if you don't want to spend the extra for bakelite. Also one downside is they get dirty as fuck.
Taiwan T91 upper receivers will be soon imported to the US.
I'm in California and I'm thinking about switching to the Mini 14 to avoid any bans here.
I can't afford an M1A or I'd get into one of those.
Can anyone tell me how a Mini 14 would fare in a disaster or a gunfight? I don't plan on engaging past 200yds, and if so I have a scoped hunting rifle for those purposes.
>>31812083
Old ones had pretty awful and thin barrels that would flex after just a little bit of shooting. As such, people would often add a brace to the front of the barrel to reduce this.
Newer ones are much better and you don't have to worry about the flexing. This is actually an odd exception where the newer version of an old gun is actually much better.
Oh, and there's a neat little legal trick you can do with staples and the trigger pack that let you shoot once when you pull the trigger and once when you release it.
