/k/ please help me. Today i was shooting my new ar for the first time and it failed to extract a casing. The casing is stuck now. Wat do?
>>
>>31801325

>>
>>31801325
Cleaning rod down the barrel and push it out
>>
>>31801331
It's really stuck in there
>>
>>31801339
I will have to buy a cleaning kit
>>
>>31801325
Cleaning rod down the barrel, couple smacks with a hammer should pop it out. Afterwards, give the chamber a serious cleaning. I had recurring issues with stuck cases, eventually realized that my chamber brush was worn down so much that it was hardly even touching the sides. Got a new brush, cleaned it up real nice and it hasn't happened since.
>>

>>
>>31801355
Okay. Like I told another anon I will need to buy a cleaning kit

I thought wolf to be highly regarded. Is that not the case?
>>
>>31801325
Welp, time to break out that cutting torch you bought 3 months ago but couldn't decide what to (you)se it on first.
>>
>>31801354
Shove a few lit fire crackers down the barrel with long fuses then plug up the muzzle. The blast will force it casing out.
>>
>>31801366
>Okay. Like I told another anon I will need to buy a cleaning kit
Well we've figured out the cause. Keep it clean and lubed, anon.

wolf gold is brass cased ammo made in taiwan. it's "ok" ammo. why it failed to extract could be several things, but it seems to have some rim tearing there, which can happen with particularly dirty powder or some other crap in the chamber that seals it too tightly.

if you want quality ammo, just buy federal american eagle.
>>
>>31801389
Thanks. I didn't know about wolf ammo being shite so I don't think I'll be going back to shooting it anytime soon.
>>
>>31801354

Its fine, you should get a new upper because yours is shit.
>>
>>31801411
Don't listen to these fuckheads, its totally legit ammo and it's all you should shoot. 90% of these people shoot steelcased (which is 10x worse)
>>
Buy a fucking cleaning rod, cheap ass. If you're too stupid to find some form of stiff rod laying around and use it to knock out the case you probably are too stupid to own a gun.
>I thought wolf was well regarded
Yeah, well regarded for being cheap and shitty, learn to not be retarded OP
>>
>>31801411
Wolf Gold 223 is not "shit" . But you do have to clean the chamber, especially if you've been shooting steel case before you put brass back in it.
>>
>>31801441
Hey, fuck you. Learn not to be a dick sometime asshole.
>>
>>31801325
OP I've had this issue before, though it happened when I was using steel cased ammo. I have learned that it happens when your extractor pin isn't grabbing the round properly OR the barrel was gummed up enough to basically glue it in. Either way, push it out and clean your barrel. Then lube properly and try shooting again. If it keeps doing it you might need a new extractor digglydoo

Shoot a bullet down the barrel from the other end to get it out. Youll want to be careful to make sure that the other rifle you use to shoot the bullet down the barrel of the stuck gun is perfectly aligned. Works like a charm.

>>
Steel cased expands less than brass. You're much less likely to see this kind of failure using steel cased since it doesn't form as tight of a seal.

>durrr steel cased is bad because steel is as hard as your barrel
>hurr the steel cased ammo tears up your extractor and ejector
>>
>>31802993
Nothing especially wrong wiht steel case, but since it doesn't expand to the chamber dimension when fired, powder by products get on the chamber walls.
>>
>>31803662
true, it tends to be dirtier. This can be a problem, especially in ARs. As far as the lacquer or polymer coating melting and sticking to the chamber I can't comment directly but I've never experienced anything like that. In my opinion this would be a non issue in semi-autos, since the firing and subsequent extraction takes place so quickly, it would be impossible for the melted polymer coating on the case to harden and "glue" the casing to the chamber. Additionally, I don't know exactly what type of polymer is used to coat the cartridges, but it seems unlikely that it would be thick enough (have a high enough viscosity) to stick around in the chamber for any significant length of time. More likely, whatever thin layer that develops after a few hundred rounds (most cartridges would have literally 1 mL total or less polymer on them) simply runs out of the gun or boils off and evaporates.

Its a brand new ar. It needs a break in period like any other mass produced piece of clockwork. Knock it out with a rod and go dump a few more mags until things mate better.

>>
Okay maggot, this is a simple fix.
First you get another bullet and place it on the other end of the barrel.
This will be hard, the rifling will dig in almost immediately, so have a hammer handy on standby.
Shove the bullet in by hand BY HAND as far as you can.
If you can still see copper, use the hammer.
The hammer might set the charge off but the resulting gases will force the casing out of the other end of the barrel.
And for fucks sake, CLEAN YOUR GUN!
>>
>>31801325
5.56 or 223 chamber?
>>
>>31805128
Aren't they the same bullet?
>>
Alright fuckers OP here. I didn't by anything to clean the rifle because I didn't see some malfunction like this coming right off the bat. I'm going to buy myself a cleaning rod and try to hammer the casing out without bottoming out the casing. After that I will lube that little bitch like there's no tomorrow.

1. Pour some gunpowder down the barrel
2. Light a match and place it just inside of it
3. Block the barrel, put a plug in there or something
4. Put some pressure on the end of the barrel so the plug doesn't go flying
5. Tilt the gun so the gunpowder ignites and the casing will fly out the other end.

>>
>>31812746
Yes & no
Mainly depends on if it's nato, Remington or Wylde.
Truth be told you run all three through most any ar, the issue comes down to barrel life.
>>
>>31812746
Generally: 5.56 is loaded hotter than .223
This means that 5.56 can be dangerous to a chamber not designed for 5.56, but a chamber in 5.56 can easily fire both cartridges.
>>
>>31812947
I don't believe that. .223 is the original round. US took this round, gave it a specific loading, and called it 5.56. 55gr bullet is M193. 62gr bullet is M855. Other alterations come with other names. The casings are identical, but while .223 can be just about ANY loading, a 5.56 will have a very specific loading.

Same goes with .308 and 7.62 nato. .308 came first; a civilian round. It was taken by the Military, given a specific loading, and thus was the 7.62 Nato. 150gr is M80 Ball, unless it gets a different bullet for non-standard use in which case it has a different designation.

If anything, I'd say .223 or .308 could be more dangerous than the Nato counterparts. Some hand-loader who is just shooting them through a strong Mauser action might go ahead and load them up as powerfully as he damn well can. Overload them like mad. Meanwhile with 5.56 or 7.62, it will be of a specific loading that automatics are designed to be able to manage.

It's military slang because it looks like a fucking asterisk and your average private doesn't know what a fucking asterisk is, but gets "star."
>>
>>31814167
As far as i'm aware the dimensions of the rifles internals are the same, however the materials and construction techniques are different. You should probably look it up because i'm not an authority on the matter.
>>
>>31813822
Bullshit. Thats is an oversimplification.

It has less to do with pressure of the loads and more to do with the differences in the size of the leade beween a SAAMI spec .223 and a NATO spec 5.56 chamber and the difference between the way SAAMI and NATO measure chamber pressure..

Different leade specs, different ways of measuring pressure, mean apples and oranges.

No way a paper clip would work there when the extractor only managed to chew up the brass.
>>

I think drilling a hole, then feeding wire/string with a knot or something in it from the barrel and through the hole, then yanking on in from the receiver side might work

Definitely sounds a lot more plausible than a paperclip.
>>
>>31801354
Get a long steel rod that will fit the barrel and casing, use that in place of cleaning rod to remove stuck shell, next time dont buy shit ammo, purchase cleaning kit asap, and for gods sake get the required materials to maintain a weapon before you get the weapon. Dumbass.

I don't know very much about revolvers, but shouldn't the cylinder gap let out the excess pressure and prevent a blown primer?

Hey guys I get my first rifle in a few days and don't want to end up like OP.

Any online purchasable cleaning kit you'd recommend?
>>
>>31801453
Make sure you have the muzzle pointing at you while you're trying to hammer out that round. You'll get better translation of force. Good luck.
>>

Happens with AK's and bad ammo too.

Here's a guy with unfired cartridge stuck in AK:

Is it a Bushmaster? Buying one of those would be your first mistake, mainly the newer ones that have improperly reamed chambers (IMO, this is your problem here).

Larry Potterfield will consume your everlasting soul and eat your children, but follow his instructions and buy a broken shell extractor or cast the chamber with cerosafe. Better yet, take it to a gunsmith and have him look at it. Alternatively, buy a barrel wrench, upper receiver vice block, a bench vise and a new barrel and never have this problem again after you rebarrel your chopper and find out you also have a weak extractor spring, it's over gassed, the gas tube is bent and your buffer spring is several coils too short.

After you fix all of that, brag about your newly acquired gunsmithing prowess. Then, further hone those skills by taking to your bench grinder and buffing the hammer and trigger sear surfaces to an uneven blunt roundness, akin to a river stone, and you might be lucky enough to turn your plane jane AR, into a full auto M-16 (without all of that semi auto bullshit to begin with)! Good luck and remember to always say yes to strange men walking up to you at gun shows who offer you full autos and explosives.

>>31805507
You didn't clean it before firing it? Shocker that you had a failure to extract. It couldn't be the lack of proper lubricant

>>
>>31807202
Hello noguns
>>
>>31820715

If you're only pulling the rod through, multi-piece is fine. And even if you push it through, I'm still not convinced a brass rod is going to do any more damage to a barrel than copper bullets scraping down the lands at 3000fps.
>>
>>31817097
.... Look at the picture again. The joke is where the firing pin is striking.
>>
>>31820775
Why, though? How? How is the hammer of a revolver SO fucked up that it hits ALL OVER THE BACK OF THE CASING?! I mean, if it was just an issue of alignment, then there would be dents on EITHER SIDE of the primer, yeah? How the fuck does the hammer go to the TOP of the casing?! WTF Taurus?!

>>
>>31814297
Gonna reload that?
>>
>>31821285
Maybe casings have been reloaded numerous times. Misalignment would result in the pin hitting to the right or left of the primer. But you put the rounds into the cylinder at random angles each time. So, dents all over.
>>
>>31801354
>doesn't buy cleaning kit
>wonders why gun jams
>>
>>31821705
I guess he's not using a revolver, a bolt action, a Glock, or an AK...

Jokes aside though, any gun owner worth their weight in salt should have a cleaning kit. Those ones that come in the buttstocks of SKSs, AKs, and the like, those can be used, but seriously, get a proper cleaning kit. Use that cleaning kit in the buttstock for innawoods, not for at home where you can do a proper job of it.
>>
OP here I didn't know it was factory new when I bought it and this is my first gun so you guys can go fuck yourselves about the cleaning kit thing. I got it fixed now anyways.
