Is 165 grain 45 acp the best option for self defense and cc?

pros:
>low penetration
>low recoil
>travels faster
>same diameter hole (roughly)

cons:
>no exit wound shock
>any barriers or armor will stop it or deflect it.
>reduced range

Alternatively is 147 9mm viable? Does it do more damage or just give the round better penetration. (Yes, I'm aware that handgun knockdown is a meme)
I'm in the market for a new cc. My 38 snub has seen better days. My main concern has always been close encounters and follow up shots.

Handgun rounds already suck, don't reduce their effectiveness further with low recoil rounds (less velocity)

I prefer 124gr +P 9mm

Which guns semis can handle +p? I was looking and a lot of companies claim it will void warranty. Not that I care, but it does raise questions about safety.

I am not comfortable with striker fire. It feels weird and I like the ability to double tap the pin if I have a bad round.
