Is there any sexier single engine fighter around than the J-10B?

The F-16.
>>31797526
Pennant number indicates 2nd Air Division of the PLAAF.
Finally some confirmation of a operational J-10B unit.
>>31797534
F-16 looks good, but sadly no delicious DSI in any operational model.
>>31797522

>>31797547
Two J-20s also arrived at Foshan AB, which is close to where the Airshow will be held. A flyby is expected.
That sure is a strange way to spell "F-35 Lightning"

neat/10
China's got some pretty planes.
Any JH-7s at the airshow?
>>31797522
Rumors say that CAC is developing a J-10D based on the J-10B/C, but with added CFTs.
So, it will soon become ugly just like the Block 52/60 Falcon.
>>31797735
>muh nimble and pretty f-16
Look at all the shit you have to ad just to do it's job. The F-35 has all of this baked into it. Sorry about your misconception of what a working F-16 actually looks like vs what you see at an airshow.
What do you think happens to the F-16 performance with these mods?
>>31797744
Too bad not this time.
JH-7 isnt suited for airshows anyway.
>>31797753
That actually doesn't look too bad. It looks a lot like the proposed Eurofighter CFTs.
>>31797759
>JH-7 isnt suited for airshows anyway
Why's that?
>>31797619
muh
>>31797522
Why no missile on the SRAAM hardpoint?
I wished they would finally "declassify" the PL-10 and the PL-15.
>>31797767
>Why's that?
It cant turn so good (wasnt built for that) and crashes.
The JH-7 also once had a flight display team. But during a Sino-Russian excercise it crashed during the following aerobatic display. Since then, there isnt any JH-7 aerobatic team anymore.
It was dumb anyway. Noone would assign Tornados or Jaguars for airshow aerobatic teams anyway.
>>31797769
>that gif
holy fuck that's lewd.
>>31797790
though during the 2014 airshow the JH-7A was on static display.

>>31797828
A bigger and heavier Jaguar
>>31797731
I used to have an image of the China team playing volleyball in the water while the two J10s flew over the burning carrier in the background. There was a guy laying in a lounge chair giving the planes the thumbs up.
>>31797821
They say the H-6K will appear as static display this time.
>>31797886
Oooh neat.
Do they have any plans to create an indigenous bomber or are they content with the H-6?
>>31797850
That was a classic image, i remember it.
My other favorite was the inevitable TV Station baserape with the Mi-28 on Sharqi Peninsula. Dat 30mm cannon.

>>31797986
It's literally a Tu-16 copy.
Conformal fuel tanks destroy the looks of every plane.
>>31797580
f-35s not even the best looking american plane. >>31797534 is
>>31797756
It doing his job fine without CFT too. In fact it flied an awful lot of combat sorties without them. Though for some missions a large combat radius is more preferred than agility.
>>31797986
>>31797998
Somewhere in between - the original H-6 was a Tu-16 copy, but the Chinese have done a ton of work to the design with the H-6K to make it almost an entirely new plane Still not an entirely indigenous design, but it's even less a Tu-16 than the J-11Ds are Su-27SKs.
>>31797993
neat/10. They planning on keeping them as glorified maritime strike platforms or are they going to have a real strategic bomber?
>>31797522
I prefer the older version. That curvier air intake really rub me the wrong way
So the J-20 is practically confirmed for the airshow?
>>31797998
If Chinese call the J-11 indigenous fighter, then you shouldn't be much surprised about the H-6
>>31798151
pretty much yes.
I still hope they'll showcase more drones desu

>>31798235
I'm looking forward for new ordnance and munitions.
But drones are confirmed.
>>31799254
Munitions wise, at least a MMW-guided variant of the AR-1/Hellfire equivalent is confirmed. Maybe this could be China's Brimstone equivalent.
>>31799279
The laser guided AR-1
>>31799279
Brimstone is more than guidence and bomb.
>>31799466
Of course, but MMW guidance at least provides the foundation of F&F and multi-target engagement capability, both being the Brimstone's speciality.
The PLAAF's aim would be to have a single JH-7A/B destroy an entire tank company in a single pass - and this isnt possible with the existing LGBs or TV/laser guided AGMs in their arsenal, since each of those weapons require a dedicated kill-chain that needs the WSO's complete attention from launch to hit.
A bunch of YL-12's mounted on those multi-ordnance bomb-racks could solve this problem, The JL-10A radar has GMT modes already, so...
>>31799254
Apparently, a scale-model of this new drone will be shown.
>>31799583
>>31799533
Simply having mwr does not mean you have a brimstone like weapon anon.
>>31799590
truly some Ace Combat look.
>>31797790
Jesus wept that is an aesthetic as fuck plane
At least from that angle anyway
>>31799597
>Brimstone is a "fire-and-forget" missile, which is loaded with targeting data by the Weapon Systems Officer (WSO) prior to launch. It is programmable to adapt to particular mission requirements. This capability includes essentially the ability to find targets within a certain area (such as those near friendly forces), and to self-destruct if it is unable to find a target within the designated area. This information is provided to the munition by the WSO from RAF ASTOR, USAF Northrop Grumman E-8 Joint STARS aircraft or local troops.
>In addition to the semi-autonomous ability to decide its own targets, the Brimstone has the capacity to determine where on a target to best impact causing the most damage or resulting in elimination of the target. The missile's advanced sensor package includes its extremely high frequency millimetric wave radar, which allows the weapon to image the target and hence choose a target location. With as many as twenty-four missiles in the air, the missile's targeting system also required an algorithm to ensure that missiles hit their targets in a staggered order, rather than all simultaneously.
>Brimstone can be fired in a number of attack profiles; direct or indirect against single targets, a column of targets or against an array of targets. The latter utilises a salvo attack capability for multiple kills per engagement. Once launched, the platform is free to manoeuvre away from the target area or engage another target array.[13]
Ok, you add some algorithm and a simple AI.
Nothing that cant be achieved with what the Chinese already have.
Their HJ-12 Sino-Javelin also has an algorithm that allows it to perform a top-attack profile targeting the most vulnerable point on a tank.
Holyshit Chinks are going full speed
>>31797522

>>31799657

>>31799619
>Ok, you add some algorithm and a simple AI.

>>31799657
Excuse me?
>>31799619
>Their HJ-12 Sino-Javelin also has an algorithm that allows it to perform a top-attack profile targeting the most vulnerable point on a tank.
Sure, just like it has 1000+ RHA pen after ERA.
>>31799688
1100mm RHA penetration.
It is a thicker but shorter missile than the Javelin, also produced 20 years later.
A 152mm tandem-HEAT will fuck any armor plenty good.
>>31799970
16% bigger. 100% more pen.
Dont buy it, nobody does. Why would you need "muh algorithms" for top attack if you can frontally pen a tank? How is a man portibal top attack missile out penning pretty much every crew served missile?
Spoiler alert, its bullshit.
>>31800044
The HJ-9 has 1500mm penetration. Same 152mm diameter and probably the same warhead type of the HJ-12, only slightly more explosives inside.
>>31800099
As presented at the airshow; the MMW-beam-riding variant that is crew served.
>>31800099
HJ-9 does 1100 to 1200 RHA, and is not F&F, does not manuver for top attack, and its a crew served weapon at best.
You are helping me at this point.
>>31800138
Oh right, 1200mm.
But the HJ-9 has a much longer range than the HJ-12 and is an overall bigger missile.
The HJ-12 is the smallest ATGM in China's arsenal, besides the HJ-73
>>31797534
I would make love to both
Aren't ATGMs one of the technically easiest "heavy" weapons to design?
>>31800158
>longer range
Not a huge difference. 4000 for the HJ-12, 5500 for the HJ-9.
The RHA pen is completly logically non congruent with the known specs of the missile. In other words, its outright bogus.
>>31800370
Pic is what a 125mm HEAT does to an RHA block.
1200mm of penetration.
Holy shit. Why do these all look like copies?
M20 tactical missile
Dubbed "ABM killer" because of its evasive cruise and terminal phase.
>>31800427
>>31800406
Because everything china makes looks like a copy?

>>31800395

>>31800826
In Red Dragon, it has AP26 - like the Hellfire.
Absolutely based ATGM and much needed anti tank solution for the embattled coalition.
>>31797841
>>31797828
It's basically a cheap and updated strike fighter that was meant to replace the scores of older cold war relics that China still had in its inventory. The JH-7B is a drastic modernization.
Is not bad plane. It flies, it drops bombs.

That seems to be the case with a lot of Chinese planes they've developed recently. They've got a ways to go, but they're improving pretty fast and getting pretty good at what they're doing.
>pic unrelated
This japanese sinoboo is providing quite nice updates. Looks like the H-6K has also arrived. But only equipped with KD-63 AGMs.
KD-63 is a rather old missile with TV/ImIR-seeker based on the old Silkworm body. It's large and relatively slow. I would guess the PLA uses it more as a guided extended range bomb rather than as cruise missile.

>YJ-63 (C-603)[edit]
>XW-41 and its predecessor HY-4 lost their intended market when the wars in middle east ended, so XW-41 was converted to the first indigenously developed air-to-surface precision strike missile. The developmental work begun in the mid-1990s when Sea Eagle Mechanical-Electrical Research Academy (æµ·é¹°æœºç”µæŠ€æœ¯ç ”ç©¶é™¢) received support of Chinese military and the project was completed in 2002. The resulting new missile was named as YJ-63, also known as C-603. In comparison to XW-41, the original radar guidance was changed to TV guidance. The original inverted Y-configuration of tail control surfaces was changed to X-configuration. Like its predecessor, XW-41, turbojet engine was adopted instead of liquid fuel rocket engine used on HY-2.
