Hey /k/, I just moved to California for college and for most of my life I lived in Thailand and never had access to guns, is there anything that's good for a newbie?

I'm thinking a simple shotgun or rifle, but I don't know what to get....

Please give me some advice.

Also California laws are not ideal but pretty ok to me.

Big, fun to shoot, ammo is cheap, definite cool factor, reasonably cheap, built like a tank so you can't fuck it up.
