From behind we were taught to stab the kidneys area and twist the bayonet/knife.

The the placement of the stabs isn't as important as the number of them tho, just stab-twist-pull out, stab-twist-pull out, repeat, repeat, repeat as fast as you can and as many times possible until he's dropped on the ground and you're 101% sure he's dead.
