Sure, there were folks who had pre-ban guns, but the AR-15 barbie dolls we have today were non-existent because demand wasn't as high. What if we were to change the voting system and make it so that each state's electoral votes are divided into districts or even by county? The really common aftermarket glock part was a metal mag release. There were all steel gLock mags that were high caps, but they would ruin the polymer release. So, some part company came up with a replacement steel one.

I get that the AR is better, but for a long time the Mini was as good as it was gonna get without spending serious serious money. Mags were a bitch, but not as bad as people make out. Factory were $100, after market were $35. Aftermarket could be junk, or actually work pretty well.

The 40 was the gretaest thing ever. Again, you guys shit on it, but back in the day, 40 was literally the greatest bullet that ever done was

My dad bought me the first gun I ever actually owned (I had previously only borrowed his to go shooting), a Glock 22. Because .40 was regarded as some kind of wonder cartridge at the time.

Sometime around '98 or so, my Big Christmas Present from pops was a pre-ban High Capacity 15-round magazine for that Glock, and it was big shit. They cost well over a hundred bucks, and there was an air of "getting away with something" around them. That's how different a world it was. Every gun show was stuffed with AKs with thumbhole stocks, and guys trading rumors that if you accidentally backed over them with your truck, you could legally replace them with the real thing.

Tables advertising "Pre-Ban AK-47 only $1200!!" were all over the place, and remember this is in 90s bucks. I wish I could go back for one day and stock up on SKS's, MREs and russian ammo, though.

The biggest issue is the list of banned guns. Some things like Colt or Bushmaster AR's is only a minor inconvenience (other companies are ok to have) but if you want something like an AUG or M1 Carbine you are out of luck unless you can get it from a private party who doesn't care or doesn't know.

If you are trying to see what a federal AWB 2.0 would look like, I think it would be something like this for semi autos:
