what is the most strongest?

Modern plate carriers

Dragon skin. It worked so well that the pharmaceutical and defense industries lobbied to have it banned and removed from military trials. It was so strong and light and had an indefinite lifespan. If it was put into service then the demand for new armor and medical supplies in the military would drop off like a rock.
>>
anyone have that pic of the russian body armor? it was labeled as level 6a protection or something similar
>>
>>31777596
IOTV is better than Interceptor, largely because it is just up armored Interceptor.
>>
>>31777580
>what is the most strongest?

How many freakin' plates you slap on yourself.

Honestly, I could a one inch armored plate to myself and withstand a .50 cal, pardoning broken ribs and punctured organs.

Most coverage is beat by some bigass suits, the gign have one that's bigger than the iotv, which consists of essentially all plates, and Russian redout and centurion are a bit bigger but they're retardedly big

Most useful is debatable. In a conflict with any effective weapons like grenades, bombs and artillery, you want some sort of kevlared armor carrier with plates. Otherwise a PC by itself is most useful.

6b45 plate carrier.

Level 6A GOST.
>>
>>31777970
The 6b45 does not come with gost 6a

>>31777622
Which one, you'll have to be more specific. The 6b43 comes with 6a plates, and a few others are rated to 6a also
The 6b45 is only 5a, but 5a is about nij 4.
>>
>>31777893
most useful for average infantry, one of the complaints they got with Interceptor and the PASGT system was the weight of the thing, soldiers could hardly move/run very far with all of that crap on.

Are side plates worth it?

IOTV is just improved OTV(go figure.) It covers slightly less at the throat and armpits to improve flexibility though.

But I may have heard wrong
>>

It seems like the main reason it's not popular anymore is because of poor QC on the test units and politics, go figure. You can private purchase it though and apparently the CIA uses it to some degree.
>>
>>31779167
Also about 40% heavier for the same protection as an OTV.

If you get shot there you'll wish you had them. If you're puny you'd probably do better without the weight. I'm about 200 lbs and in decent shape, and I just settle for a plate carrier and level IV plates. If I die, I die. Oh well.

I'm in bong land so I doubt I'll ever come up against anything like .44 magnum. .22lr, 9mm and possibly 45ACP are the types of rounds that I could come up against where I live. It's a bit of a shit hole and there's quite a few people that I know alone that are more than capable of getting their hands on pistols of those calibers.

Im curious how your armor will hold up as is too anon.

If youre looking to improve your design, any chance you could legally buy ar500 plates? If you cant get actual armor plates maybe you can buy the target plates (also bullet resistant) and if you get asked why you NEED that you can say you want something to hang targets on for your pellet gun or youre making some kind of art project with it.
>>
>>31777580
Your all so ignorant that its funny enough for me to post the truth. HEXAR for multi hit, RMA SCALED Ceramic For Heavy AP threats.
Silicone carbide Hexar 10x12s cost 500 each
4.5 lbs
Silicon Carbide tile ceramic RMA IV costs 399 each for 10x12 weighs 4.4 lbs but does not flex
it is also .8 inches thick vs HEXARS .6250 inches thick making it the thinnest M855a1 & Light AP nij lvl 3 plate on the market HEXAR has the benefit of being made into almost any shape and size due to its light weight flexible nature. It's god tear since its contracted out anonymously to SFOD 1.

How do I know this? simple When you want the best and spend thousands you learn some cool things along the way. Of course balacs cut rifle armor is 14 lbs with silicone carbide small sized and costs 2250 for a pair but its the cream of the crop right now.

>NIJ 4

10.8 g, AP round, 878 m/s, 44mm of backface deformation

>gost 6a
10.4g, AP round, 835 m/s, 17mm of backface

>gost 5a
7.4 g, AP, 750 m/s, 17mm of backface

considering the backface deformation requirement and the multi-hit capabilities, 5a and 6a plates stand up very well against level 4. In any realistic scenario, a 5a will stop everything an NIJ 4 will.
>>
>>31785366
You can get abrasion resistant steel pretty much anywhere. Thats almos as good and won't put you on any watch lists. 5/8 th of an inch coated in layers of fiberglass cloth and ryno liner shoud stop anything pistol caliber. Get a good carrier from an air soft store and you should be good to go for bong tier threats. If you put a layer of tiles over theseel it would probably be even better, but that's just speculation on my part.
>>
>>31786054
seriously? Did you even try duckduckgo so clearly you have some common sense.

>uses wiki
I've lost faith in you

zoom in and read it. then again I'm amazed at your level of comprehension that you would even buy half decent armor. It's nij certified to level III rifle protection plus stopping other threats.

I take back my comment then it is a certifiable russian standard under Russia-Gost R 50744-95.
Thank you for informing me but I still prefer standards of my home nation. As much as you prefer your undoubtedly. I would have to test them here and ship twice the amount I need and test them in a lab over here before I would trust them for GOST rating.

i don't even use GOST(except for kevlar at the moment) plates, i have level 4 nijs in my carriers, only because i do not want to take the chance of them getting ganked in customs. Once i have the dosh i am considering ordering a few plates for testing, but until then i will probably just order what i need/want to fill my carriers.

>>
>>31786991
No. any advance in materials science that would enable such hyper protective armor would also result in better weapons
>>
>>31786096
AR500, 1/2" thick, was stopping a constant barrage of 7.62x39mm, 7mm Winchester, .303 British, and .243 Winchester, and laughing at them.

So yeah, that target steel would work.

Make sure to add spall catching material to it though.
>>
>>31777580
Either a stupid question or a very intelligent. Don´t know which one. Strongest bodyarmor that can be made under which requirements? Strongest currently on market? Strongest on which circumstances?

That depends what are you after. If you want the strongest possible, you can always clad yourself with steelarmor of 10 thick. Or if thats not enough, how about strapping a planet in front of you?

If you meant something in which you can move and have a decent mobility, then we have to make compromises between area coverage, armor resistance and weight. Then comes along material specs. Certain compostions have better armor resistance than others, for example, steel is good, but titanium is better for same weight. Ceramics (I´m talking very specific kind of ceramics, not your average bathroom tiles) will also help reducing weight while providing resistance for full rifle lenght armor piercing cartridge.
>>
>>31786929
No with pounds of money silly.
>>
>>31787354

>>
>>31781131

>>
>>31787029
Kevlar backwater isn't hard to obtain, and I have it anyway. 5a is about 5 pounds and will take a full mag dumped into it, 6a is like 8 or 9 pounds.
>>
>>31777605
A dragon skin vest isn't going to prevent an IED from fucking your day up.

If this is the case, why didn't they ban all body armor?

Are you retarded?
>>
>>31777580
Quick question:
Do you get to choose the armor you use innamilitary?
If I join I want to experience the IOTV
>>
>>31777605

It worked so well the glue melted at "left in a car" temperatures.
>>
>>31789022
To be precise - 5A plate is 2.5kg, 6A is 2.7kg. For size 2.
>>
>>31789066

Nope. Liability concerns.

Good news is most units use iotv's anyway.
>>
>>31789040
>>31789169

Because other body armors are designed to fail at certain points. This helps ensure more contracts to body armor manufacturers and more medicines ordered from pharmaceutical corporations.

Dragon Skin literally never failed, and was self-repairing. It actually could stop multiple .50 BMG rounds from close range. My brother was a part of the testing in the marines and told me all this. Those records have been purged and made classified, never to be released thanks to body armor and pharmaceutical lobbying in congress.

It's literally only level 3 certified.

Ceramic plates at level 4 exist and are cheaper. And don't melt. Big pharma doesn't have to lobby when the math makes dragon skin a stupid purchase.
