I had a really cool and rare piece of gear that I bought finally arrive in the mail. It's an Illuminated Assaulter's Armband made by Diamondback Tactical which was one of the most innovative gear companies back in the mid to late 2000s before it was finally restructured. If you've ever played Battlefield 4, you'll notice that Agent Kovic and the US Engineer and Recon Classes are actually wearing this armband.

BEHOLD THE MAGIC THAT IS VELCRO!!!

why is this a bad idea? I cant see any drawbacks outside of shitty velcro and even then this stuff doesnt want to let go that easily.
>>
>>31776372
Throw it down the stairs and see if it sticks.
>>
>>31774659
Digging that WASR underfolder. Im an LEO in Georgia. Always loved AKs. Had a case about a year ago where a 17yo kid grabbed his dads 10/63 underfolder and fired 9 rounds at 3 suspects trying to do a home invasion. He hit all 3. Killed one, paralyzed the other and the third had his arm from below the elbow down amputated. Kid made me proud.
>>
>>31776411
Well the helmet its self would fucking destroy it if it lands on it but i've been throwing the bitch around and it sticks. Im really impressed with this
>>
>>31776439
Would it come off if you ran through a brush?
>>
>>31776455
I just threw it at my bed a couple times and the wall and it has yet to come off. ITs so strong on there i can hold the helmet up by the radio. Just get good velcro and it works.
>>
>>31776280
These are awful. Hot and constructive. The material is far too thick and bulky on the sides.

I wore these in basic training and on a couple of ranges where leaders were autistic. Nobody likes these things.
>>
>>31774809
>>31773753

I'm a Jew. The CSA and Fascist Germany on principle would be against each other besides hating non-whites thats about all they had in common. The lack of centralized control of the CSA is the main reason they lost the war.
>>
Is there no easy way to wear a rucksack with a plate carrier?

I want my plate carrier as slick as possible, with the exception of a hydration pouch (without actually having water, if I don't necessarily need it), but I'd also like to be able to carry a hat, socks, etc. I don't like shit in my pants pockets, and I don't want a molle mounted pack on the back of my pc so I dont have to take it off every time I need something.

Im about to buy an osprey manta but Im sure the mesh system isn't going to jive well with a hard plate.

Is it just something you have to deal with or is there some secret?

Also this is all just conjecture I know I'm going to just use my chest rig without armor with that pack, I just want to know in case my fantasies come true
>>
>>31776536
What do you prefer then?
>>
>>31776473
I guess it's good if you're going to the range or doing something that's hot tactical, but in combat it's just going to make you a higher value target.
>>
>>31776372
This look unbalanced, you can't reach the buttons, you can't reach the controls, if you do run a cord you now have a cord hanging from your head to your body.

In terms of Velcro, if you actually use this thing it's going to fall off eventually. We wore IR strobes, which are considerably lighter and wore them on the top which put less strain on the Velcro. Even with that people ran more Velcro over top of them or used tape to secure them.

If you are deadset on putting a radio on your helmet (IIRC not a great place), I'd secure a pouch to the rear of the helmet (secure method using a strap or helmet screws) and put the radio in there. Tape or Velcro down the antenna so it doesn't stick up. Make sure your PTT box or hand mic has a quick tear away connector.
>>
>>31776565
nah, shits a bitch in general. You won't win with a PC so just fit it so it works best at least. I tried that myself and it just doesn't work. Hydration packs can be anywhere if they have the hooks on em. Personally I put mine bottom right on my back on my pack so its low down, doesnt bother anything and the hose isnt wrapped around my neck.

Also, is there an infographic or pastebin with a list of good quality gear for beginners? It can be confusing to those trying to get into the plate carrier or chest rig world to decide what they need and to separate the good from the bad. If anyone has an infographic like this or could make one, it'd be a good addition to these threads, and would stop the influx of "Hey /k/ is this condor chest rig good?!1/"

Basically what everyone else is saying about him: he's a scumbag. If you type in "soe gear" into google, you will immediately see how many complaints they have racked up over the years for their unprofessional behavior.

I recall seeing an email exchange between the owner and a woman who had messaged them to get an order fixed. The owner himself proceeded to curse the woman out in one of the exchanges after refusing to fix the order.

I also recall seeing a YouTube video ( uploaded by the company owner) showing him and company employees burning their own product that was returned to them as a form of mockery directed at one of their customers.

You'll have to look pretty hard to find them along with certain other Diamondback products. It was in 2011 that they restructured the company and liquidated a literal ton of brand new armor and gear. Redcat Tactical bought up most of the liquidated armor/gear and sold it for pennies on the dollar on Fleabay. The deals were the most insane deals I have ever seen in my life. There were 300 dollar assault packs being sold for less than 50 dollars and a ton of armor panels/plates (I remember seeing 7.62 x 39 rated forearm and leg armor too) being sold for under 20 dollars. I would have bought as much as I could, but I had just graduated high school and was just over broke. I cry every time that I think about it. Your best bet now is on Fleabay. There is a company called C2RFast that makes a similar product in the form of a aviation knee board and Molle admin pouch, you might want to check them out.

Only thing that makes me feel good is everyone who has actually received their order goes on and on about how top notch it is. Hopefully this is true and not justification for waiting an eternity.

Anyone know of any manufacturers that make something similar to a "hanger" that HSP and Spiritus make for their chest rigs? I want to have an IFAK that opens clamshell style for quick access but neither make it.

Alternatively, anyone that makes semi-custom accessories for them? I'd rather look around and see if something is available first before trying to make my own.

>>31772377

That is aesthetic as fuck but I have no idea what I'd ever use it for. As in, I don't have any important papers to look at on the go. Still want one, though.

>>31774675

Your setup is nice, I keep finding myself stalking Spiritus' site. I like their rig so far. What interior pouch are you using for the pistol mags? I'm thinking about grabbing one of those and another for a multitool and flashlight.

>>31776372

Nah dude, don't do that. It'll weigh on one side of your head like NODs. If you don't want it at your front, just stuff it in a back pouch or backpack strap towards the top and rear.

It is a Tarahumara. Usually a hydration bladder, eye and ear pro, socks, and a warming layer. It can hold more than I use it for but overloading it into an overnight pack is not optimal. Great day hike pack, when combined with one of their kit harnesses.

Hi guize, I'm the anon who actually made the radio guide 101 pic. Like the top of it says, it's a guide to get you started in a manner that doesn't get you rammed in the ass by the FCC. Is there anyway I could paint it, dye it, or something to get it another color? I live in the north now and I don't really have a need for a DCU pattern plate carrier anymore. It's kinda the reason I threw it in the closet in the first place.

Thanks, I came across this page on Tyr: http://www.tyrtactical.com/products/list/general-purpose-pca/pouch-accessories/ And now I think I should just make my own hangers like the one they have for their 5"x8" pouch, as it'll let me adjust the drop a bit more than what they offer with the other ones.

Do none of you have a mag pouch? Or do you just expect to be such a cool cucumber when you're taking fire that you'll waste the time to stuff the mag in the pouch you're pulling the new one from or are you all just gunna assume you're stacking bodies every time you take contact and you'll just walk around and find your mags after the fire fight?
>>
>>31788343
Lol, that's my assumption. Hell , I've noticed that nobody really teaches mag retention anymore. It's actually quite irritating.

I don't know if this is the right thread for this but does anyone have any suggestions for a backpack that can fit a 34" rifle? I'm going to put an AR in it but I would like the option to fit a bolt action in it so it needs to fit a complete rifle.
>>
>>31788486
Get a side folding stock for the bolt gun and disassemble the upper from the lower for the AR, 34in is pretty big for a back pack.
>>
>>31788517
Do you have any suggestions for a backpack with velcro to hold it in place? I know 5.11 or blackhawk makes one.

Arc'teryx LEAF Khard with velcro weapon straps from Velocity. Slap in whatever other velcro bits you want from Velocity, Maxpedition, Hill People, Tactical Tailor, or whatever. I have some leftover airshit vests from years ago, and I don't know if they'd be worth it to wear in a scenario (ex. SHTF) with my AR / mags. Would I be better off carrying the mags in my pockets / pack?

I'd like to get a plate carrier + chest rig sometime, but for now this is all I've got. No pics atm because I'm at work, but I know one of them is the south african flecktarn vest.

New to gear, do you guys who keep everything good to go also keep their water containers full?
Id imagine you wouldn't want to take the time to fill up but depending on the container it could damage it or lead to not as pure or stale water. Do you refill every month or setting similar? Sure not the end of the world but having fresh clean water can go a long way for your morale.

>Do you refill every month or setting similar?
Shit no, every week.
>>
>>31789494

Personally I wouldn't recommend keeping water in a hydration bladder for extremely extended periods of time (3+ months). It can start tasting sorta gross if the water had any little bit of bacteria in it. Alternatively you could put a few iodine / chlorine tabs in there, but that'll make it taste a little... Synthetic; which isn't always a bad thing, like drinking from a hose. But you're gunna get that stale taste after a few weeks if you leave it in the bladder.

I just keep bottled waters for prep stuff.

"A mag"...so you don't lay any suppressive fire at all? I think call of duty has gotten to your head bro. If you only use one mag you were sitting behind cover crying that you don't want to die. And even still if you survive or peel out that's a mag you'll never see again. You driving around shooting the boyz in the hood and got a trunk full of loaded mags?
>>
>>31789890
comfy and secure (not secure enough to be run upside down, the way it came from shellback)

Inside is lined with grippy rubber or something. Pmags are nice and snug, lancers have a little bit more room but aren't going anywhere. Can also fit a couple doublestack handgun mags.

Other slicks that really caught my eye were the Ferro Concepts Slickster (wild 8-cell cummerbund situation) and the Crye JPC OG. Few more I'm sure...

any questions, let me know. happy to help

Can't think of anything else off the top of my head, but I'm double checking some of the places I looked and will get back to you...

You could always buy the Ferro's cummerbund (pretty sure it's the Ferro CEC or Carry Elastic Cummerbund) and replace whatever stock cummerbund your PC had. Elastic cummerbunds are almost all replaceable/interchangeable

Cool so Im getting some TACOS. Im going for a sort of modern alice set up with my load bearing belt.

So ive decided on 4 to 6 2xTacos and a dump pouch, so now what? Im thinking a generic medical pouch, water storage and a radio.

Are water bottles on a belt shitty, should I just get a regular back mounted hydration pouch?

For my carrier Im gonna go for the same shit, but with 6 single tacos for my 30 rounders.

when loading everything else into your gear, you should do it with a full bladder, or when you go to fill and move out you are in for an unpleasant surprise when you try to put the full bladder back into the pack

but do not store your camelbak/canteen/nalgene with water in it, and when you are done with it properly clean and dry it out
it is just like any piece of gear and should be properly maintained lest it fail when you need it...
